Guest guest
Actually my Armour got here Saturday, but I had to sign for it so couldn't get to the Post Office until this afternoon. I think it took about two weeks exactly to get here. So I take half after breakfast and half later in the day? Thanks, Darrin You all are the best! Guest guest
It would depend on if you are going to be swallowing it or doing it sublingually. If you swallow, it has to be on an empty stomach and then wait at lease an hour before you eat.... If you take it sublingually (under the tongue) you can eat as soon as it's dissolved. I take mine sublingually and then usually do breakfast pretty soon after its gone.... I have my pill box on the night stand and pop it in as soon as I wake. Others have different routines. You need to pick what is best for you... you'll be doing it for a long while, so find a routine that suits you. Which ever way you choose, it should be consistent from day to day. Guest guest
Thanks Topper - OK. I'm going to go try to split a pill now....they sure are stinky! I think I'll do the sublingual thing and find out if they taste as good as they smell! ;-) Darrin > It would depend on if you are going to be swallowing it or doing it > sublingually. Guest guest
That's funny, they don't taste too bad to me at all. Guess you'll get used to them. BTW I subling between cheek and gum rather than under tongue. You don't taste it that way and can still drink while waiting for it to dissolve. Guest guest
You get used to it pretty quickly, there aren't any taste buds under your tongue... just tuck it way back under.. if you are having trouble with the taste you can put something on top of your tongue, tic tac, lifesaver... it's okay to sip liquids too. Since I started doing this, it's been at least a year. I've gotten into the habit of brushing the top and bottom of my tongue and the roof of my mouth when I brush my teeth..... boy, does food ever taste fabulous now! Guest guest
Sublingual means under the tongue. Tucking it in your cheek... I've not yet heard the proper term for that and the absorption is less. Topper () On Tue, 10 Aug 2004 07:15:16 -0500 Debbie K writes: That's funny, they don't taste too bad to me at all. Guest guest
Just another note: I've been doing mine in cheek b/c when under the tongue, I wind up salivating a lot and it most of it just seems to wash down my throat anyway. I just want to do the most possible to bypass the stomach acids b/c they destroy the calcitonin. The only reason my docs have given for not wanting the TSH to be so low is the danger of osteoporsis. There is a drug out now called Miacalcin which is calcitonin in a nasal spray. It is prescribed for osteoporsis. I think it is logical that if I can take the armour in a way that will not destroy the calcitonin, I will avoid that and their fears are unfounded. Guest guest
Do you tuck it way in back next to that little web/membrane? Odd... I get less salivation putting it there than anywhere else. We each have to do what works best for us.... That's part of what we are all here to figure out. Learning what other folks have tried, and the results, to determine what we feel we should try. So if that is the best method for you, stick with it.... The important part is to be consistent in how you do it so that your absorption is also consistent.. that will give you the most even dosing and the most predictable results. IMHO, of course. Guest guest
Yes, you're right. Some people think that the saliva is a barrier, but that is not the case, it is rather a vehicle for absorption. Re: Re: Armour from MyRXforless came today Sublingual means under the tongue. Guest guest
Yes, the saliva liquifies it so that it can pass through the membrane... but the trick is to tuck it where you won't be so incredibly 'juicy' as to cause the tab to disintegrate and the grit go down the throat... it's easy to tell when that is happening.. for me it's gritty and triggers me to cough. Guest guest
Thanks again for all the advice. It's been two days now and I feel relieved to be done with Synthroid. Has anyone ever compared the list of possible side effects from Synthroid to those of Armour? Armour doesn't have any! I tried Armour sublingually yesterday, breaking it in half to take one half AM & one half PM. Was in a rush this morning so just swallowed a whole one. So far no tremors or anything wierd. But I didn't expect any. Tomorrow I will take one whole sublingually. Darrin > Do you tuck it way in back next to that little web/membrane? Odd...
