Guest guest
Hi Groupies! I have a question about NAC. How long have you been taking NAC? Are you taking 1800 mg a day? Is it helping? I just wondered. . . . . . . . . I have been taking NAC for 6 months, 3 times a day, 600 mg each dose. My doctor tells me it is working for me. I hope and pray it keeps on working. Toodles! Guest guest
Jim, Since you have been nebulizing the Acetylcysteine, do you dilute it or mix it with other meds. When I first started nebbing it I mixed it in with my DuoNeb and it worked great. Then I read that you are not supposed to mix it. It is difficult to neb alone. Yucky! How many ml are you nebbing? It really works great for me. Hugs, Joyce D.PULMONARY FIBROSIS/LUPUS 1997 BRONCHIECTASIS 2004 INDIANA 2 COR. 12:10 ....when I am weak, then I am strong. Guest guest
Hi Jane, I take NAC if I start coughing with a little gunk. I can not take it daily cause my tummy does NOT like it as a regular diet.. My transplant Dr. told me to go on it the first time I saw him. Good Luck with it. I am just very sensitive to medications. After three plus years I have been blessed not to have a cough. Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Florida " Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. " Hi Everyone Thanks to everyone who has responded to the NAC question thus far. NAC is going to be used in a clinical study next year. Toodles! Guest guest
I have been on NAC for about two months - taking the 600 mg tablets 4 times a day. I, too, had a stomach issue with the capsules so switched. I discovered the effectiveness of NAC in the body lasts only about one hour after taking a dosage. As a result, I went over to a time release NAC which supposedly lasts about 4 hours instead. In addition, I learned there are some metabolic products produced in the body from breaking down the NAC that supposedly can be harmful. These effects can be neutralized by taking Vitamin C. As a result, I searched for and found a source of time release Vitamin C to go along with the time released NAC. My cough has been significantly reduced and as long as I take the NAC and Vitamin C with orange juice, I encounter no stomach upset.
