Guest guest
I have seen articles in Pubmed and Medline that are from Japan regarding NF. So, they have NF there too. My brain hurts, too. I think I need to get a medical degree to understand all of this. Re: Not gender or race specific...sorry Carla, hit the wrong button and sent it to wrong address! > An interesting question would be do Japanese and Chinese people have NF. > Both these nations have low sugar consumption > Also Japan is big on seafood which has many good points also. > > Marcus whos brain hurts when he has to think. hehe > > > > >

" Well,I was stunned to hear that.I nearly fainted, then they said " the monkey was the mans FOOD " Oh silly me,you don't want to know what I was thinking. Guest guest
Hi Marcus Yes, Japanese and Chinese people have NF. In fact, the doctor who has probably seen more cases of Nf1 than anyone else is in Japan. Lisch nodules, which are one of the defining features of Nf1 and are life cafe au lait marks in the Iris of the eye (usually unseen except with a slit lamp) were first identified by a Japanese doctor rather than a German one (Lisch) but not published in time. Actually, it would be one way to find out whether a person has both Nf1 and Nf2 - no Lisch nodules, almost certainly no Nf1. Doctors do get confused because some people with Nf2 have a cafe au lait mark or two (my daughter did) and get lumps and bumps on the surface of the skin (my daughter did) but analysed, these are different to Nf1 lumps. Another sign of Nf1 is freckling in unusual places such as under the arms or round the neck - without these, a person probably doesn't have Nf1 either. There was once talk of the NNFF doing a population study on a town in China of about 500,000 people to try to get some idea of the incidence of Nf but I think it all became too difficult to organise. Both types of NF affect all races and in the same proportion. Hope this helps. a An interesting question would be do Japanese and Chinese people have NF.
