Guest guest
>>>JULIA WROTE>>>Our chapter decided to not have a meeting or even a weigh in this week. That is a disaster for me. I ate every cookie, candy, nut, etc. I could find today. Had there been a weigh in tonight I wouldn't have done that. I know what you mean, . The chapter that I used to be in never had weigh-ins for the last 2 weeks of December. When I took over as leader I tried to change that, but to no avail, because it was "what they always did"! They said that they needed a break from TOPS over the holidays. Well, I took a break alright.... I gained 5.25 lbs in those 2 weeks last December. Gains right before the start of the new year didn't bother those people, since they felt that it didn't "count". The last weigh in for the year was the second week in December... which closed out the books for that year. Then they got to "start fresh" for the first weigh in of the new year.... and apparently, the higher that weight, the better.... because we had one lady who used to weigh in with a couple of layers of clothes... turtleneck sweater under heavy cableknit sweater, heavy pants, etc. for that first weigh in. I think that this was her attempt at being able to show a loss at the end of the year. By December of that year, she was weighing in with shorts and a slinky undershirt/camisole. Mind you, this is the same individual who, when I wore the exact same top and shorts every weigh in from when I joined in July 2002, told me that I'd eventually have to weigh in with pants on during the winter. To which I told her that I'd rather be consistant with what I wear for weigh in. After several months, I wore a different pair of shorts to weigh in and she commented about me wearing something different.... well heck, after losing weight I couldn't keep the other ones up around my waist anymore... and they were just another pair of shorts... same amount of fabric! I've been in Jackie's chapter since the end of March and I've worn the same ol' black shorts and dark pink top for the past NINE MONTHS. I won't change what I wear until that clothes gets too big. Consistency and accountability. I'm glad that in my current chapter we didn't have any "no meeting" days over the holidays. I didn't make the best choices this past week... but it could have been a whole lot worse if I didn't have weigh-in tonight!!! Guest guest
I'm with you, Janet. I always weigh in in the same clothes. Acutally, I have several pairs of shorts just alike, just different colors and I wear a tee shirt. We only miss one meeting during the holidays. The building where we meet is closed on Monday of the week after Christmas but we could ask the custodian to come out and open it for us. He lives in Houston and we just hate to ask him to come out and hang around for an hour or so and lock up. Besides, it gives our weight recorder an extra week to get her resume in. Guest guest
We had a weigh-in only for the last two weeks. Needed to for all of our sakes. Had one member soooo close to her 100 lb loss mark and we couldn't allow her not being able to have her chance at reaching it, which by the way wasn't to be. She wanted to kick herself. She was doing everything she could right but those darn Drs. keep changing her meds and she retained water because of it. She would have to not take them for two days, which doesn't do her any good for their purpose, in order to have the loss she needed. Anyway, from that point after she gets her 100 lbs lost, she has 9 more to goal. This year will most definately be her year to get there. I ended up for the year a 1.5 gain (as of our first weigh-in of the year which happened the second week of Jan. 2004).
