Well, we could organize a Diabetes_Int seminar and get a group rate at a beachside hotel. We just have to find some way to make it tax- deductable. I lived in the Caribbean for several years and my wife comes from there. Just as many people suffer from clinical depression and diabetes there as anywhere else, unfortunately. > Only one problem with this that I can see. > We'd all be suffering terrible depression > the day we were due home. That's for sure! But I am not so certain that " being depressed " is the same thing as suffering from clinical depression. It seems to me that if something unpleasant has happened to you, is happening to you or is expected to happen to you then it is perfectly natural for you to to " feel depressed " about it. What I understand by clinical depression is when you feel down but there is no apparent reason for you feeling depressed - everything is going well, there are no real problems in sight - and yet you still feel lifeless and have no appetite, feel tired during the day, have difficulty concentrating, are unable to make decisions. I have chosen a test procedure for what I assume is my clinical depression and I tried it out this morning. I said to myself after breakfast that I would now stand up and start exercising, which is something that I really wanted to do. Nothing happened. I just continued sitting there. In fact 3 hours went by and I still couldn't bring myself to stand up and start moving about. It is just as if there is a disconnect somewhere in my nervous system. The message doesn't get through to my muscles. Suddenly, my muscles responded and I started exercising without any further problem. So I have noted the 3 hours as a measure of my depression today. I am going out now to buy some St. 's Wort and I will test again tomorrow. I am hoping to get some objectivity into this process!
