Hi I don't post very often but I read them all. Today I go for my 2nd

year mammogram. I'm sure all is well but there is always that

linguring doubt in your mind that it's not. On the positive side I'm

a two year survivor. Yeah!!!!!!!!!

I have been taking tamoxifen for over a year and I get hot flashes

and night sweats. No two days (or nights) are ever the same. My

doctor mentioned to try to avoid things that triggered them and said

caffine was one of the biggest triggers. Does anyone have any

experience with this? She also said Vitamin E and Evening Primrose

Oil help with hot flashes. Has anyone tried these?

Thanks for the info.

---First! Congrats on the 2 years! I am 5 yearsn out and still get

nervous when it's mamo time. I just finished 5 years of tamoxifen in

January. I had the weight gain, hot flashes and night sweats. They

kind of leveled off after a couple years. Doris and I kept popcycles

in the freezer for our *POWER SURGES* they cool you right off. I have

been up in the middle of the night many times eating a popcycle. I

limited my caffine to just morning coffea. The rest of the day I

drink water with lemon. I do take a multi vit and also E ,C and

calcium.

Do you know if a PET SCAN/and/or CAT SCAN will detect as much as an MRI?...georgiachristina wrote:

that's right it only detects regular tumors in the breast, so if it's spread a mammo will not detect that, you need MRI's or CT's for anything else.

Hi,

Like the lady before me said, I hate to scare anyone, too, BUT, mammograms usually do not detect Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

Remember, symptoms of IBC are:

Orange peel look to skin

Breast hot to the touch

Nipple inverted

Severe itching

Breast swollen

Women who have IBC may have SOME of the above symptoms (few of us have them all).

Mammograms and ultrasounds rarely detect IBC. The only definitive diagnosis is through biopsy.

Please pass this info on to every woman you know. To learn more about IBC, check out:
