It is usually associated with people who are diabetic, but I am NOT diabetic - - so I have no idea what caused it. And I agree - - it hurts! However, about two years ago my doctor gave me a prescription for Amitriptylin (10mg) for the chronic pain, and it has helped greatly. It still bothers me some, but not the shooting pain like somebody is stabbing me in the feet with ice picks - especially when I go to bed at night! It didn't occur to me that 's problem could be neuropathy! I thought you only got it in your feet and hands! I'll have to do some reading up??? Guest guest Posted November 21, 2004 Report Share Posted November 21, 2004 I looked up neuropathy on the internet and unless I have a VERY small cause or a rare case this does not sound like what I have. I spent hours the other night looking up things on the internet about nerve endings and none of it sounds like the symptoms I have but I will still see a Neurologist IF my blood work comes back negative. I should get the results this week sometime and then I will make an appointment for a neurologist. That's the last step. My chest and neck have not bothered me this week as they have in the past. What did I change? NOTHING! Who knows why it comes and goes worse at different times but I want it to go and stay gone so I will keep going to the doctor. To be honest with you each time I have went to the doctor it was actually a day that it was not hurting. GO FIGURE! LOL! Thanks for all your help on trying to find out what's wrong with me!
