Guest guest
mary, as an ex stylist - those hairs are either making their progression to white or for some ppl they stay in the grey stage to never become snow white - some let bleach secretly help them that next step which isn't much or just leave it natural. Ponceti for now ! -- Re: Thyroid and Hair Dye? That's me. The grays that I have are not a pretty white, they're a dull gray, so I'm not ready for that yet. I do my own. Re: Thyroid and Hair Dye? The whole time that I have been hypo and having hashimoto's I have dyed my hair. I recently went back to my natural color in the past few months. But I always used the hair coloring that you buy at walmart and do yourself.

But I'm wondering what it is that hair dye actually does to the hair. Arewe talking about the hair breaking easier, or are we talking about skin orinternal reactions to the hair dye. Guest guest
I will gladly live with the gray when my whole head is gray, but what I have going on is a big circle of gray hair on the top of my head. It is slowly moving down, so that the whole back of my head is gonna be gray one day. Now, that without hair dye looks great: big gray ball on the top, dull medium brown around it, and a nice streak of blue black on the top of my head - the streak is natural, my grandpa had it too and when it all goes gray, the streak will remain. That I will enjoy, but for now I dye the rest of the hair chocolate brown - the streak doesn't take dye and remains blue black. Jan wrote: > That's me. Guest guest
If the source is a natural hair dye sales site, that would explain it (sorry for being cynical). I've googled it, searched 's and Dr. Mercola's sites, and other than saying that any hair dye with peroxide will worsen the hair loss caused by thyroid disease, I found nothing to suggest it gets in the lymph system and on to the thyroid. Not even the warnings not to dye during pregnancy had anything to do with the lymph system, but with the fumes possibly harming the baby. Guest guest
ok...best thing to do is to ask to read your salons MSDS sheets - these have to legally be on the premesis by the manufacturer - its not going to be fun reading but if you are truely that worried about the safety its worth it. or try calling the color co and ask them to pull that info from the MSDS sheet and see if you get lucky. Well I do.Anyway I know that this should be the last thing on my mind but my hair - which I have dyed for about ten years now - is really depressing me.
