Guest guest
Hello Carole, CR> Can I dye my hair? Are there any safe hair dyes or do I just sit here CR> and get more depressed by the hour? I recently researched this for my friend who dyes her hair but has been trying to minimise exposure to nasty chemicals to help with trying to conceive. The specific risks regarding hair dye was bladder cancer, Hodgkins disease and myeloma - increased in hairdresssers There were some natural dyes which were less risky -fewer organic compounds and which cover grey. [henna does not 'take' properly to grey hair] eg Herbavita http://www.nhplus.com/herbatint.cfm Best regards, Alison http://www.alisonashwell.com mailto:alison.ashwell@... new work uploaded http://www.artwanted.com/alisonashwell http://www.voodoochilli.net/artists/alisonashwell/

Guest guest
Hello Carol, Yes I have also seen something about hair dye harming the thyroid gland. I coloured my hair for years and then developed an allergy to hair dye. (Incidentally I read somewhere that prematurely white hair is an indication of hypothyroidism - anybody else know anything about this?) I got round the problem by risking one more colour, I got it done as fair as possible and from then on just had low lights; the dye doesn't touch the head that way. Now I've bitten the bullet and let nature take its course and I must admit I quite like it. --- Carole Rutherford wrote: > > > I am sat here with my cyst and nodules still waiting > to see a > Consultant and still reading the posts on the group > - you learn a > great deal by just keeping your mouth shut > sometimes! Both have had thyroid problems. I have been going white for years now, and judging from what I can see at the moment I think it finally got there. I might look 'stunning' once the dye has grown out but at the moment I just like someone who needs there hair dyed!!!! lol thanks Carole

Guest guest
But I'm wondering what it is that hair dye actually does to the hair. Are we talking about the hair breaking easier, or are we talking about skin or internal reactions to the hair dye. I know that in Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, a person could more than likely never use hair dye again, once they've become sensitized. Guest guest
That's me. The grays that I have are not a pretty white, they're a dull gray, so I'm not ready for that yet. I do my own. Re: Thyroid and Hair Dye? The whole time that I have been hypo and having hashimoto's I have dyed my hair. I recently went back to my natural color in the past few months. But I always used the hair coloring that you buy at walmart and do yourself.

Guest guest
Hi, I found the print out about hair dye but still can't find the site. But this is what it said: Hair Dye is one of the MOST toxic things to thyroid; via the lymph it drains directly down into it. The EEC is currently drawing up legislation for these products. Hair Dye and pesticides are near top of the list. You can get natural hair dye from TSG price £6.99. I obviosuly found this on a UK site because it's on about the EEC. But it did enough to frighten me! Carole - going greyer by the day.

Guest guest
What or who is TSG? I'm interested because I'm just not ready for all that gray yet. No matter how I try to talk to myself about it, I'm just not ready at all. Guest guest
mary, as an ex stylist - those hairs are either making their progression to white or for some ppl they stay in the grey stage to never become snow white - some let bleach secretly help them that next step which isn't much or just leave it natural.
