I've heard that it all has to be set up BEFORE a lottery ticket is bought if the winnings are to be going to the non-profit... does anyone know how that works? Considering how much money my dad invested in get himself incorporated when he patented his first invention.. that kind of expense pretty much puts us out of the running as far as getting this done BEFORE our fantasy of winning a lottery to fund the clinic. If we could find another nonprofit that would allow us to operate under their nonprofit umbrella for the time it takes to get everything done, then we could accept donations toward the cost of getting the incorporation done and the rest of it. Incorporating a nonprofit is less expensive than one would think. I will do some looking around for information on the costs involved. The filing fees for the IRS and state are usually low enough. The biggest hurdle is getting the nonprofit's incorporation. After that, although there are costs, they are much lower. To work under another nonprofit organization's NP status, they would have to open a separate checking account or savings account in order to have their funds separated from ours. The fees would have to be paid by us to the umbrella group. Bank service charges vary, but they aren't that high. Those who are really interested in this process would make contributions and those funds would be held in the umbrella group's control until we obtained our own NP status. So who knows a nonprofit group that would allow us to do this? We can offer them a donation of a percentage of the funds raised until we can " stand alone " for the use of their NP status. What kind of fund-raising ideas can you come up with? We would have to disclose that the funds are being raise " In order to become a nonprofit organization " and would not be tax deductible until that status is achieved. Do any of us know how to prepare the annual tax returns that are required? That person becomes the treasurer. The president and vice president need to be familiar with meeting requirements for the state in which we become incorporated. There are ways around having face-to-face meetings since we all live so far apart. Whatever method we use, we have to arrange for a transcript of the meeting to be made into minutes and distributed. This is the second or third time I have seen this mentioned. How about giving feet to the thing? Obviously, you probably need some time to rest up and get healthier. But what a cool goal you have to look forward to: starting your own clinic! Why not really give it a go? I imagine a lot of people and organizations might want to donate money to launch that sort of project. He's still not been able to build the hospital they want. But I sure got a kick out of hearing that there is a waiting list of doctors in the thousands that will give up their practices to work with him and his ideals of patient care... that's why I have to fear of finding good docs for thyroid/adrenal care. I do know that a competent facility is BADLY needed. With the ideas that I have to reduce overhead, make it as close to a self sustaining facility as possible.... folks that are unable to pay for care or transportation giving of themselves to help make the place work.... on the order of come to the clinic and spend a week, get your labs, counseling and such and help with the chores around the place. I have a feeling that we'd not be at a loss for plenty of folks to take care of most tasks thus saving the expense of hiring cooks, and gardeners (organic fruits and vegies to be grown on site), laundry, all that kind of stuff... Can anyone here that is without insurance and struggling to come up with money for docs and meds say that they would not be willing to spend some time helping out with chores that they are able to do to 'pay' for the doc and the labs and some training in meals/foods and exercise and such? sigh... I have to focus on what I need to do today.. I can't get back into 'clinic' mode right now!!! hehehehehehe Major project is to get a motherboard before this last one goes and I can't get online at all.
