Guest guest
Hi group, I work in a 315-bed hospital in Athens Regional Medical Center in Georgia. For about the last 8 years, we have had a Weekend Coordinator that works Friday-Monday 4-10 hour days. Our current coordinator may be moving out of state soon and we are looking in to many different options for weekend coverage. Sooooo...I have two questions: 1. Anyone out there have a dream schedule that all of their acute care P.T.s really like? and 2. Would anyone out there that has a " Baylor " P.T. position mind sharing the schedule, frequency and pay scale with me? Thanks so much in advance! Have a great day, :-) Martha Martha S. Guest guest
We switched to a schedule last year that has worked well. Two PTs and two PTAs work 4 ten-hour days, either Mon-Wed or Wed-Fri plus every other weekend. I actually got the idea from someone on this list who talked about a similar schedule, maybe Irene Bartlett but I'm not sure. (Whoever it was - thanks!) Anyway, the staff have liked it. We have better coverage with the ten-hour days. The weekends are less stressful than when all the outpatient and inpatient staff rotated weekends, because they know the patients and the area etc. Our therapists are exempt, and working the ten-hour days, they actually work fewer hours than when they were on five eight-hour days, because they often didn't finish on time. The other nice thing is, as a " reward " for working every other weekend, they have four days off the next weekend. You end up with extra staff on Wednesdays with this schedule. We use that day for meetings etc. and at times have used the extra person for outpatient coverage that day. We're short staffed right now and have had to temporarily go back to eight-hour days, rotating weekends with premium pay, so we can keep enough coverage Monday - Friday. We hope to go back to the other schedule as soon as possible. Sue Fogel on Hospital El Paso, TX Acute Care P.T.
