Guest guest
I have been associated with the Physiatrist as " Medical Director " of the unit and may or may not be given a stipend for the role. Patients admitted are assumed under the care of the Physiatrist. At discharge the patient is referred back to primary for follow up. This can be a very nice working environment and set up for the rehab team. Ron Barbato P.T. Guest guest
In our facility, a physiatrist comes on a weekly basis during our interdisciplinary rehab meeting to give her input regarding each patient's treatment. She has the opportunity to dialogue with our medical director (gerontologist) regarding meds. treatments, equipment, etc...and it is a nice collaborative approach. She is paid a contracted hourly rate - not sure of the amount.
