Guest guest
, I so totally, totally identify with you and that dreaded exercise torture! I don't like to walk without a true destination. Walking around the neighborhood holds no joy for me although there are many beautiful yards. I mean, where's my destination????????? There has to be a point to walking besides knowing I've exercised. It just doesn't " do " anything for my mind to tell my mind that walking is good for me. Nope. There has to be a valid " reason " ... more than it is good for me! Maybe if I had a friend nearby to walk to visit, that would be different. I don't golf. I don't play tennis or basketball, etc. I'm thinking of buying a recumbent bicycle and ride with my 4 year old granddaughter. Maybe that would work for me. Does anyone have a recumbent bike? Do you like it? Just hang in there . Kathleen-#TX TOPS 1811, Harlingen > My only problem this last 2 years has been exercise. I've been > lazy. What can I say? I will get back on track. Guest guest
I just keep reminding myself that I am burning calories.... Re: RE: and exercise Kathleen, I don't know about recumbent bikes (other than that they cost a lot of money), but I have a good friend who lost lots of weight and inches with a "Gazelle" - - - I debated about buying one, but decided that walking would work for me, so I never did get one. I know how you and feel about exercise; I don't really enjoy doing it either, but it is just part of my day- - - - I will say that it is my meditation/thinking/praying time - - and my destination is my own front door and a hot shower at the end of my 45 minute walk. Just hang in there - - and do some kind of exercise, even if it's just putting on an exercise tape and doing something in front of the TV for 30 or 40 minutes. Your 4 year old granddaughter would probably love doing that with you!! (((((((HUGS))))))))) Clara EMAIL TEXAS-STYLE!!

Guest guest
Thanks Kathleen and I so understand how you feel but it's something we have to do to get and keep this weight off. All my TOPS member pals live too far from me to walk so I have to figure out how to do it on my own. I do plan on joining my hospital gym that's open 24/7 but I want to wait until November for that to make sure my budget can handle the cost. Until then I will try and get me something different to do for 30 minutes each day. That's easy to say, and actually easy to do, but the hard part is making myself do it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and yes, at least for me, I must exercise EVERY DAY to lose weight. 2 or 3 days a week for ME doesn't work. If I really cut down on the food maybe but that's not going to happen too much! LOL! Well.....good luck on your bike. I have ridden them before and they are fun. I love treadmills and if I had one I would use it all the time but it would have to be my new bed or kitchen table because I don't have enough room for that for sure in this one bedroom apartment! LOL! Have a great week guys! YOUR TOPS PAL, RE: and exercise , I so totally, totally identify with you and that dreaded exercise torture! I don't like to walk without a true destination. Guest guest
I'm going to try and do something different every day and see if that helps. I am going to buy some exercise videos from the resale shops this week or next week after pay day. I take Thursday's off but I want to find something to do for the other 6 days. It appears we are going to be having Tropical WHATEVER Ivan 2 here in Houston come Friday morning so there goes my outside walking. I will do the walking tapes on those days. I walked 2 miles outside today and it felt great. My dog Jordan wasn't too happy. She's not used to those long distances. I did carry her awhile so she could rest. I guess I got my 7 lb. weight lift in too! LOL! I probably walked 2 1/4 miles because I couldn't get in the gate, forgot my gate key, so had to walk to the front of the apartments and wait for someone to drive in. Oh well. The more exercise for me the better. Gosh I hope I have a loss this week. I sure have tried for once. Take care and stay dry!
