Guest guest
Hi Crew - i don't usually copy everything, but it will help to follow. i had my 1st GK (Gamma Knife) surgery almost exactly 10 years ago, just before Thankgiving. i flew back to Pittsburg for it, only place in whole USA at that time. i was told i was 1st NF2 to try it. it worked for me. that tumor is still dead. sometimes we risk the new. my 2nd GK surgery on a large meningioma , done in CA a couple years later, had alot more complications, yet after riding out a very rough year recouping from it, it too has had very good long term results of no return. sometimes it is good to take the risk. note ..... that is an individual choice. there have been so many changes over the years. amazing -- the choices. whatever you all choose, i wish you the best results. and i am so greatful that we have choices. we didn't used to, not that long ago.... hugs to all, LynnBK << Subject: FW: Trip to California for CYBER-KNIFE Pat, This is the EXACT reason I would NOT choose Cyber. Newer does not imply better. With all these people trying to out-do each other, I'll take something more proven. This is basically why I chose GK recently - Tried, Tested and True like Chevy trucks. Perhaps GK is not " true " but 2 outa 3 aint bad (where have I heard that before?). Anyway, there is nothing wrong with your logic but everyone looks at the situation differently. Unfortunately, the doctors praise what they have rather than what they feel is best. The story continues.... ---------- From: CrewbiePatD@... But all the docs who are involved in these areas think their way is the best.If I personally had to chhose an option today, I'd go for cyber. Cyber knife is a newer form of FSR (fractioanlized stereotactic radiosurgery) which was pioneered by Dr.Adler at Stanford (no longer there) that uses missile guidence technology, and computer model mapping of a tumor, to put the radation dose into the center of a tumor. The guidence technology allows the laser to adjust its trajectory in response to the tiniest movements by the patient which occur naturally - no way to avoid doing it. I'm not sure what the current doseage and number of traetments is. I'm sure its changed since I looked into it. -Pat ----------------------------- In a message dated 11/3/00 8:38:06 PM Eastern Standard Time, becvar@... writes: << , What is the Cyber-Knife?
