Guest guest
I would love to know that too because I don't remember anyone not needing the T3 only to get rid of the RT3. I don't know if it's possible to get rid of RT3 when taking anything with T4 in it. You just don't want to take T3 only, huh? Why?? Just curious. Hey, Just curious as to how many people there are who have had high RT3 but didn't need to take T3 only in order to lower it? And also, what did you do that lowered it? I think this would be very interesting to know as while some people seem to need T3 to lower it, it seems there are some that don't. Thanks Jonny ------------------------------------

Guest guest
No Im willing to take T3 only, but would like to know if it is possible to lower it without as I think Dr Peatfield's view, who I am seeing, is that it is not needed. If he says this to me when I next speak to him and there HAS been people who have lowered their RT3 without needing T3, then I think I will do what he says (which is probably to keep increasing Armour). If however there is no one, then I think I will probably end up trying the T3. Thanks Jonny

Guest guest
I hope it is possible. It is the road I am currently on.. I was told to increase my iodine and by dealing with the TH resistance and mineral inbalances things would correct. We shall see. I am currently only able to take about 120mg of Armour per day without whigging out and I started at 270 with a recent raise to 330mg. I asked about aldosterone and adrenals, and he is more inclined to work on the mineral inbalances that make these things go awry. We shall see...j ----------------------------> > I would love to know that too because I don't remember anyone not needing the T3 only to get rid of the RT3. Guest guest
I see. Yes, it can get very confusing when you have a doctor like him and he says something that's different then what patients experience.I remember now that you posted this yesterday and I think someone responded by saying, even the best doctors don't keep up with what's current. I remember about a year ago someone posted and said that her doctor insisted that she stop Armour or she would never get rid of the RT3 problem. Don't know if that's helps you make a decision or not. I do understand where you're coming from but remember Val has seen it all. No Im willing to take T3 only, but would like to know if it is possible to lower it without as I think Dr Peatfield's view, who I am seeing, is that it is not needed. Guest guest
Jonny,I can't see how increasing armour would help with reducing RT3. People, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't high RT3 also mean we have excess T4? Armour has 5 times as much T4 as it does T3, and armour is good for people with no RT3, but when we have RT3 the balance is all wrong. Elyse No Im willing to take T3 only, but would like to know if it is possible to lower it without as I think Dr Peatfield's view, who I am seeing, is that it is not needed. Guest guest
I think Darla on the main NTH goup cleared RT3 without going to T3 only. If I remember correctly, she said it cleared by correcting low adrenals with HC. At least that's what I remember from months ago....I was in quite a brain fog then.. Guest guest
Generally I think more T4 than our bodies are able to use is the cause. But that can be a very small amount when we have weak adrenals. Or low ferritin. I had high cortils for year and low cortils for years but now wiht normal cortils I still dontl do well with any T4. but I stil have the undetectable IGF-1 which I have no idea how or IF it affects this, ther is just no research on it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/

Guest guest
Thanks very much for that Radar, iv just found the message you were talking about! Here it is: " Darla - are you saying that RT3 may fix itself without T3? I'm in the same boat but not sure how to proceed, either. " " Yes, mine did. RT3 was high from all the T4 I had been on for many years. With proper adrenal treatment, high enough ferritin and gradually raising Armour mine turned around with out having to resort to T3 only. If you do not fix these things you might just keep having RT3 problems. " I think I will email here and ask what here RT3 results actually were. I think this is very interesting. I seem to remember Dr Lowe saying that when somebody has high cortisol, there RT3 does up but only temporarily. This also implies that RT3 can come down on its own accord. Thanks Jonny
