Guest guest
Cheryl, Quite honestly, I arrived at the decision to have UAE on my own, after researching it on the web. My ob/gyn is unimformed about the procedure. I have a very good family dr who was familiar with UAE & coordinated getting me in for an MRI/MRA and helped me get to an IR who was familiar & had done the UAE procedure. At this time I am in limbo waiting for my ob/gyn & the IR to work together so I can set a date to have the procedure. I'm hoping to have the procedure in March, if not then early April. I'd have to say, if you don't have a very supportive dr (or for that matter-even if you do) to learn all you can about the procedure through websites, through this list-which is a great tool-actually being able to " talk " to patients who have had UAE! When I met w/the IR I had my films in hand from the MRI/MRA, so he could be informed of my size of fibroids-more than just by reading the radiologist's report. Have you had an ultrasound/or MRI? Is your concern mostly due to the lack of experience that dr has w/UAE? You definately want to feel comfortable w/the dr. For me that was a real big thing. Hope this helps. Would be glad to discuss this further with you. All the best in making your decision. -Elise. Cheryl wrote: Elsie, can you share what steps you went through to arrive at the decision to have UAE. I am planning to discuss a date for a UAE and I have talked to only one doctor at the National Naval Medical Center In Bethesda. He has done 5 of these procedures. I'd like to hear from others on the list serve as to whether I should talk to the other two doctors at this facility to determine which doctor is right for me. I want so much for this to be over, but I don't want to hurriedly force a solution because of my anxiety. Thanks, cheryl Re: Fwd: 6 months post UAE status report > > Nina, Good Luck to you with your upcoming UAE. I plan to have UAE in a few weeks, the drs are comparing notes to be sure that is the right thing for me to do, but I believe it is. I am sure I will be scared & nervous too. You will be in my thoughts & prayers. Be sure to let us know how things go. All the best to you- Elise. > TOJANINKA@... wrote: Hi Debbie, > > I really like your mathematical approach to fibroids and UAE results. > > I am having embolization on Thursday.
