Guest guest
I have been on the Cytomel for almost six weeks and really feel a heck of a lot worse. No, I haven't gotten labs done. But, my temperature and other stats haven't budged. I am pretty sure I felt better on T4, despite having a high RT3. Thanks. > > How long have you been on Cytomel and have you gotten labs? > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ >

Guest guest
These were my latest labs (on 3.5 grains of Armour): TSH <.01 FT4 1.2 (0.8-1.8) FT3 388 (230 - 420) RT3 39 H (11-32) (This was about 26 in December so has climbed a lot in a few months) My ratio has also gone from 12 to less than 10 within 4.5 months. Doc suggested going to 3 grains of Armour plus 50 mcg of Cytomel. On my own I have gone to 2.5 grains of Armour and 60 mcg Cytomel (I had another old prescription for 15mcg/day from an old doc when I was trying synthetic T4/T3.) I would like to go to all T3, I think, but can’t find doc for it, yet. I have also gotten advice that it is not always necessary to go straight T3, but I am new to this so I don’t know. Guest guest
Yeah, I am pretty clueless. What were you doing when you got those numbers? I went up to 75 Cytomel and it seemed that I got worse without the T4. My T4 had been good on 100 Levoxyl before, but my T3 was way low and RT3 high. Ratio was okay, though. Guest guest
>What guidelines are there for judging this approach? > Ratios or actual number of RT3? Val goes over this almost every day. You get FT3 and RT3, look at the ratio. It should be 20 or over. As long as you have the RT3 problem and keep on taking T4 the T4 will keep on converting to Rt3 instead of useful T3. You will keep building up more RT3 in your cells which blocks the good T3 and you will get more and more hyper. That is how it was for me. Some people occasionally apparently seem to do OK with some T4, but the process has to be slower. Dorothy

Guest guest
Thanks Dorothy. I know and get the theory. But, experientially this has not been the case for me. I feel like my body is missing the T4. And, I have never ever felt hyper, always always hypo. > > >What guidelines are there for judging this approach? > > Ratios or actual number of RT3? > > Val goes over this almost every day. Guest guest
You have not nbeen on T3 loing enough to clear out RT3 form the receptors. It took me 12 weeks on it before the T3 broke through and all my hyop symoms were gone.
