NEW DELHI: The Asia Media Forum, a network of journalists from across Asia, has announced fellowship for those aspiring to improve their coverage of human rights. The last date for submission of application is October 25, 2006. The fellowship provides for 20 middle career (below 40 years) print and electronic media journalists, both from the mainstream and regional media, an opportunity to work in the field in various Asian countries on certain themes relating to human rights such as women's rights, right to food, right to human security in conflict and emergencies (particularly tsunami related), right to life and dignity in the face of HIV/AIDS threat and right to just and democratic governance. Those selected will be sent to a country in South Asia or South East Asia to work in the field with the poor and marginalised communities for two weeks. They will be given $ 200 as incidental and travel expenses, including stipend.
