Michele,

This is a link that posted not long ago on applying.

http://ssa.gov/ applyfordisabili ty/adult. htm

This will give you some guide lines.

Also, if you google, applying for Social Security Disability, you

will get find some attys. who you can hire. I looked at a couple of

sites and they had information on what SS looks for when you apply.

Most of all, they are going to rely on your medical records and any

entries that your rheummy has made.

I haven't been there yet. My rheummy wants me to apply, and I am

trying to hold off until next March.

I hope this helps some.

Hi all,

As we ( meaning my hubby & I ) have been fighting for the last 7 years

to get SSD for my hubby? I recommend that you find a lawyer.

We are on our second one, so don't if you aren't getting anywhere

with your current one.. do try another.

We do have one that does not get paid until we win, but we must give

him a bigger % of the win. So be it.. We just want something,

especially now that I am dealing with R.A.

You can apply yourself, but 90% all of first time applicants get

rejected. We've appealed, re-appealed.. and now we are waiting to

hear if we can get Federal court to ask SSD to go over the paperwork

once again.. if they say yes? we will have to go back to SSD & have

them decide once again.

Please also be aware. Get your application in ASAP. If you have

to have an appeal? the wait to get a court date for an appeal

is averaging 1 1/2 years from the time you apply for the appeal.

We also have been told by several people the closer you are to

being 50 yrs. old? the better your possiblities are of winning.

Also, if you live somewhere other then the East Coast? Your

chances are better ( we've even been advised to try to set up

a permanent address in CA).

We have been all over creation trying to pinpoint exactly what is

wrong with my hubby. He gets sort of like vertigo spells.. but without

the spinning/dizziness. He gets completely off balance, says it's like

someone is flipping off his power, switch by switch.. and he

must sit down asap. They orginally thought he had something called

a chiarria malformation of the brain stem... others have said No

that is not what he has, he's been having mini-strokes which they

are unable to locate where they are orginating from.

Ok.. sorry to ramble on so.. but SSD is not always the walk in the

park some people are left to believe.
