Building A Life

Hello TOPS Pals,

Hope your day is going well! Things couldn't be better here.

I wanted to share another excerpt from Building a Life with you today.

***

We build our lives year by year, day by day, moment by moment. How is your construction progressing?

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire, and he told his boss of his plans to leave and live a more leisurely life with his wife. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see such a good worker go, and he asked the carpenter to build just one more house as a personal favor.

The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front door key to the carpenter,"This is your house," he said. "It is my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built.

If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back.

You are the carpenter of you life. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Your attitudes and the choices you make today build your "house" for tomorrow. Build wisely!

True, we cannot turn back time and completely start all over again...but...we can begin the remodeling process on our life.

We can begin by tearing down those negative attitudes which have allowed us to shoddily build our house. We can begin by erecting new and healthy attitudes as a firm foundation to our remodeling process. With these new attitudes we can begin our reconstruction job with a sound plan of action.

Just as a carpenter uses blueprints in their remodeling plan, we should have a plan of action that we follow. Hey, we have the best..."The Choice Is Yours"...our written plan of action for a healthy lifestyle. Follow it and you will be remodeling your house with the proper tools.

Usually, a carpenter does not work alone but has reliable co-workers that work side by side with him. At TOPS, we do too...we have each other. Again, we have the best...don't you think?

It is a daily work in progress, don't waste a minute of your time! Begin today making each day count in your life toward building a new healthier you!

We have approximately 15 weigh-ins till the end of the year...Don't wait till you make your new years resolutions to begin...begin today. What are you waiting for?

Those of us who had the privilege to go to the Retreat in Louisiana have begun our reconstruction process...come join us as we work together ...building wisely each day...for a stronger and healthier "house" for tomorrow!
