Guest guest
I am 41 yr old female and new to this group, hoping that you can help me understand following test results. I just got my test results and my doc recommends small amounts of compunded T3 along with iodine(Iodoral)but i am confused if using T3 directly is the right thing. Iodine in form of potassium iodide 150 mcg gave me severe detox symptoms including depression, find this to be really strange...so, does it mean I need to use just iodine and not potassium iodide? but how to just get iodine? My test results are as follows: T4, free 1.33 (.61-1.76) TSH 3.008 (.45-4.5) T3 118 (85-205) T3, free 3.0 (2.3-4.2) Reverse T3 215(90-350) Thanks and regards!!! FT3*1000/RT3 = 14; needs to be above 20. You've got to lower that TSH, to lower T4, to stop RT3 from forming. The way to do that is to slowly ramp up T3. This is assuming your adrenals are strong enough to tolerate T3, and your ferritin is above 50, and ideally in the 70-90 range. I'm not convinced that iodine supplementation in large amounts is the way to go. Did you consider taking the iodine loading test offered by Dr. Flechas' organization? This would give you an idea of whether you really need it. (My result was 70% so I decided adding iodine wasn't really necessary.) Some people do NOT respond well to iodine in large amounts; there is a bit of controversy in the literature whether daily supplementation of more than ~0.5mg is safe. Although, the Japanese seem to do fine with large amounts of iodine, when it is consumed as seaweed.

Guest guest
I'll look into iodine loading test. Last year my tsh was 2.3 but RT3 was still high 213, so I guess it is my weak adrenals causing high RT3. What do you think? what is your opinion on HC OTC?
