Hi! I'm Mona from northwest NJ. I was diagnosed with IBC in July 2002. I had a lumpectomy....chemo...and rads....the standard stuff. The only thing that I thought peculiar was my breast remained swollen....actually double the size....and very warm and red. Surgeon said it was normal.....oncologist said not to worry.....probably lymphedema.....rad md commented at least I couldn't blame it on her. I also went to 2 different facilities for lymphedema therapy....the last one actually increased the swelling and redness.

January i found two lumps on my breast......biopsy indicated recurrent adenocarcinoma. I am scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy March 30. I had a skin biopsy taken yesterday and the dermatologist said that my breast presents classic cancer changes......inverted nipple/dimpling of the skin/red, warm itchy skin......yup, looks like cancer to him!

I am soooo very angry! Is it possible that I have been walking around....receiving treatment from a hospital and professionals that ONLY treat cancer......for 2 years??? Why would I even consider additional chemo when the first double round was seemingly ineffective??

Has anyone experienced anything similar?? How do you regain confidence in the treatment....with the so called professionals......

Thanks for allowing me to vent.....kinda feel better already.....

My MRI results

I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago to see if I have Parkinson's Disease and today I found that during the MRI, a tumor called a Glomus Jugulare was discovered on the lower left portion of my brain. It is not large, just 18 mm but needless to say, it scares me. I am not exactly sure what that is but the doctor (according to my husband...I kind of went into shock at hearing the news) seems to think it is not immediately life threatening. I also do have early Parkinson's. I will be taking medication for that but have to see a neurological surgeon first to see if I will have to have surgery to remove the G. J. The G. J., by the way, is a rare thing so I am going to a nearby town (Shreveport, LA) instead of here for the N. S. And I may have to go elsewhere if the doctors there don't know how to handle this. I sure would appreciate any and all prayers that things will go well for me. Thanks.

Mona,

Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear about all you have been

through. I have not had any problems like this but we did/do have a

few ladies with IBC. Maybe they will see this post and get back with

you. You are in my prayers.

I replied to you earlier and I got an email that this message was

undeliverable! Anyone else having problems like this?

Hugs

Ooops....it seems I've made a very serious typo! I was diagnosed with IDC....invasive ductal carcinoma......NOT IBC.....inflammatory breast cancer. Huge difference.....sorry.
