Turns out that my fibroid is the size of a twelve week fetus. My dr. is recommending a moymectomy. I am concerned with the recovery time. I am considering having an embolization done instead. I am 54 and still have not started Menopause. I keep thinking I should wait but I would not want to go through the pain I experienced again. I have had unexplained pain in my upper leg (not quite my hip, more like the leg socket) for the past couple of months. I've skeptically attributed it to a mystery strain or minor injury from my exercise regimen - even though I don't recall any injuries -- and never associated it with my fibroids! Two of my long-static fibroids suddenly grew wildly recently, and my uterus was measured at the size of a 20 week pregnancy about a month ago. That sure makes a lot more sense to explain my sudden leg pain, in concert with my other symptoms. I think that my fibroids are pressing down on a nerve when I'm in that position.
