Guest guest
Hi All, My son Adam has been on clonodine for about 6 yrs now and it has been a life saver for us. He can be very aggresive and even harmful to his younger sister. He has tried to strangle her and has pulled out large amouts of hair from her poor little head. His morning dose just slows him down enough to keep him calm and his nightly dose is double the morning dose to help him sleep. Whithout clonodine he would only sleep a few hours and be up half the night without ever going back to sleep. It doesn't seem like he requires as much sleep as " normal " kids. He now will sleep about 7-8 hours a night. Clonodine has done a good job for my son but recently his behavior Doctor added Trazadone to his daily meds. Adam still has outbreaks so the Dr. added this medication. I believe this is a form of antidepressant and also has a calming effect on Adam. Good luck with your children that are on clonodine. It's been a life saver for us. Terri Mom of Adam 11 [charger] 14 14 and
Guest guest
Hello, Clonidine is actually a blood pressure medication. It has dual uses and will work to " slow " the individual down also.

Guest guest
Jo-ann, I am a bit confused, Kennedy's pediatrician told me it was not a " sedative " and from what I " m hearing from a lot of people here, it seems as though it is. I don't understand!!! ACK! Kennedy has ALWAYS slept from 8pm until 6 or 7am...I hope this drug doesn't CHANGE that...I would be nuts without sleep. I don't want her to be a drugged out zombie in the daytime, either. We are making the final decision next week, I guess I have more questions. ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Clonidine Hi there - has been on Clonidine for 3 years now. Before she was clonidine would not go to sleep. She would be up til midnight then again up at 2 am for the day. Our paediatrician suggested this and it has really saved me from a breakdown. I could have kissed him the next time we saw him, now Steph goes to sleep about 8 pm and gets up at 6 am and she is a little angel during the day. Give Kennedy a hug from us in Sturgeon Falls Ontario Canada Jo-Ann and xoxoxo
Guest guest
, I've just read all the product info and I'm not feeling great about what I've read with regards to cardiac issues, etc. This is one of the worst decisions we've ever had to make. Argh, when does it end????? (don't tell me, I already know the answer.... ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Re: Clonidine Hello, Clonidine is actually a blood pressure medication. Guest guest
, Mark was on it for years and did well until he started to either become tolerant of it or grew out of it so to speak. It really does have very few size effects for the most part.

Guest guest
My son is on a similar medication (b/p medicine) to calm him down. It isn't clonidine but similar to it. It has worked to the extent that he does not run around constantly jumping off furniture, going down stairs head first, etc., and it certainly decreased his aggressiveness. He is also on two or three other meds because it still wasn't enough. He is sleeping GREAT at night since being on the medicine. His life is much bettere. I wish he didn't have to take all this stuff too but he could not learn otherwise. He still isn't where we want him behaviorally yet but we are working our way there. Thanks, Rose
Guest guest
Rose thank you for sharing....I wish we didn't have to go through this behaviour stuff, it hardly seems fair after all the other medical stuff they have to go through. ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Clonidine My son is on a similar medication (b/p medicine) to calm him down.
