I soon found out what a wonderful person she was and about her special gift for resolving conflicts. She always knew what to say or do without hurting anyone. I often think about a passage from an old Hemingway novel when someone with NF2 passes away: " If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. " I think people with NF2 tend to be kind, gentle and brave. I did not write it myself (in case there was some confusion). The words seem to stick in my mind. I, too, came on the crew thanks to Jordan's efforts. A remarkable lady--bright, compassionate, passionate, empathetic, sensitive, courageous, positive-thinking. I will miss her and her direct and indirect impact on us. But her example shines like a beacon for the Crew and all with whom she had contact.
