I just assumed I was tired because I am a middle-aged mom of 5 boys and the winded part I wrote off to not being in the best shape anymore. Eventually my anemia got so out of control that my physicians were talking about transfusions. (I was bleeding and passing clots so much that any of the supplements I was taking weren't working.) Anemia doesn't seem like such a big deal, but when I was at my worse, I could hardly function. Please keep an eye on your hemoglobin/hematocrit levels (through your physician). The fibroids are bad enough to deal with... any ill effects of anemia will only magnify everything. Best regards, Debi

Guest guest
The symptoms you wrote of here that Debi responded to also struck me as anemia. They are the same symptoms I have. I had them off and on for years without thinking I was anemic. Now I am really on top of it and think it is somewhere back to normal and I am not tired all the time. Guest guest
Me, too. It's taken me a very long time to be able to identify the symptoms of anemia. The most frustrating one is being very winded after hardly any exertion. At 12/29/01 02:32 PM, Robyn Albro wrote: >The symptoms you wrote of here that Debi responded to also struck me as >anemia. Guest guest
I just wanted to say thanks to Debi and Robyn for pointing out their early symptoms of anemia. As Debi said, I thought it was simply from keeping up with my one boy (how you manage five, I have no idea!), working fultime, and being in less-than-ideal shape. I haven't been anemic before, even while pregnant - but I just realized that after assuming I wasn't, I haven't actually been tested in a while. I have a visit to my doc (including ultrasound) scheduled in a few weeks and will request a test then. In the meantime, maybe I'll try taking some kelp, since iron supplements tend to make me hopelessly constipated...can't hurt! Thanks again, and a rich, blessed New Year to all! ==Cat --- Don and Debi Sewell wrote: > > > cybrcat wrote: > > > - I'm not anemic but I *am* tired all the time and > get > > winded easily when working out.
