Hi Elaine:

questions just let me know!>>

AC+T myself. How badly did your hair thin on the CMF?

Hi Patty,

The treatment depends on how advanced your breast cancer is. I had infiltrating ductal carcinoma and had a mastectomy. I had one bad node out of 23. I am ER negative so couldn't take the Tamoxifen. Its supposed to be better if you are able to take the Tamoxifen but I have been cancer free for 14 yrs in May. My onc didn't have me do radiation. I was 44 when diagnosed.

There are a few ladies here that have had successful pregnancies after treatment. Hopefully they will see your post and respond. You are in my prayers.

Re: Re: Has anyone taken

Hi all - I have a few questions here. Patty from CT

I just had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on Friday. They took 2 nodes, and during surgery, they looked okay. Waiting for "final"? pathology report later this week, but my surgeon is away rest of week. I have an appt. for Monday at 8:45 a.m.

I was diagnosed with DCIS, and they took 2 nodes, which looked good during the surgery. Surgeon had spoken about taking Tamoxifen, or something like that, after my 6 weeks of radiation.

Why do some people have radiation versus chemo? Is one better than the other, or is one better for different types of breast cancer?

Does age play a role in type of treatment? I will turn 40 in November.

Have any of you done lumpectomy and radiation, and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy? We have still debated about getting pregnant again, but wondered about doing it at my age of almost 40, and DH's age of 46 (today actually is his b-day), plus our son Noah will be 7 this July, so what an age difference that would be.

But now, with me having breast cancer, I wonder even more. Also, if I start tamoxifen (or something similar), can you/should you get pregnant? Can you take tamoxifen type drugs and get pregnant? what affect does it have on a fetus?

Do i have to decide on drugs to reduce recurrence vs. a viable pregnancy? Has anyone gone through these types of decisions before and how did you come to your decision?

Thanks for whatever advice you can offer.

Hello Amber,My bc was infiltrating ductal, stage 1, no nodes involved. It was moderately aggressive and highly HR+. My surgeon and my med onc both said I had to have chemo because I was under 50 years old and still having periods. My rads onc thought it was a good idea, but not absolutely necessary. I went with the chemo as I wanted any edge I could get.Because I had no positive nodes, I was able to have CMF, otherwise I would have had CAF.My med onc calls CMF "chemo light". In October it will be 7 years since my last treatment, and I am still cancer free.Hugs,Elaine> Hi Elaine:> > <<I also had CMF, 9 courses, concurrent with radiation.
