Guest guest
Insert one curly blonde headed girl into this equation. We are dealing with this right now and it has been an ABRUPT change over the past two months into this type of behaviour. Going to the pediatrician today to discuss options... ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 RE: Hyperactivity Thanks to everyone who has been responding about the hyperactivity question. Apparently this is a pretty common problem; seems like mostly boys so far... I am going to take all your suggestions and try to work up a new plan. Thanks for all the expert advice. Guest guest
Rose and all, I believe there is a biochemical component that has not been identified or studied yet. Kendra is trying some approaches that seem to be helping to some degree. Guest guest
Thanks Tracey, I have heard of brushing, but I " m not sure if this would work at this point with Kennedy. I haven't heard anything from her CT that indicated a smaller frontal lobe, I should try to find out about that, it'd be interesting to know. ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Re: Hyperactivity I read in the paper the other day that kids with smaller frontal lobes tend to be more hyper. I know Sullivan the frontal lobe brain atrophy is fairly common in Charge kids. We have used a kind of brushing on Sullivan called Willbarger protocol (it was taught to us by the OT), it is somewhat helpful and on occasion I have seen a dramatic change in Sullivan within minutes. Her theory is that because of Sul's multiple sensory deficits, that he is looking for stimulation and this is one way of meeting that need. Best of luck. Guest guest
My step son (not a CHARGEr) was diagnosed at age 6 with a smaller than normal frontal lobe -- he was experiencing hyperactivity, attention span problems in school, acting out when he got frustrated, etc. The neurologist told my husband that this would cause the ADHD behavior. Guest guest
Thanks Michele...I hope you don't have to go through this with Aubrie. I thought with Kennedy's more than ample communication skills, we might skip through " behaviour avenue " - but here we are....talking and all.... argh! ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 13, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 re: hyperactivity & Steffi- I'm so surprised to hear of your kids becoming hyperactive! I remember sweet little baby at a conference and photos of princess Kennedy. I'm just sending caring thoughts your way & feeling some of your frustration. I hope you find solutions for the kids soon.
