Guest guest
Carla: First – I am not as much of a “purist” as most vegetarians – I cast myself as an “almost” vegetarian – it is a health question not a moral question with me & just as some people occasionally eat cheesecake or chocolate, I occasionally eat flesh – a piece of turkey on Thanksgiving, etc. (also, I admit while I was anemic I was eating anything that crossed my path & CRAVING red-meat). I am DEFINITELY NOT vegan (love dairy)! So, I’m probably a lot less fussy about every little ingredient than most vegetarians. I do use gelcaps for vitamin E and for Fish based Omega-3’s. The ones I use are free of animal products. Given the choice, I’d choose that it be that way – but in a pinch I would not reject gelatin. – I’m a “plan-ahead” person – so being in a “pinch” for these things is not likely for me. I regard medical “advice” as just that – advice – not instructions. If I were needed to use something for constipation (a thing I can hardly imagine) I would probably try even more dietary fiber first. I happen to like flaxseed meal on granola – or just in milk. So that’s probably where I’d start. The only myo I’ve done so far was very minor & nothing was recommended for constipation & I didn’t have any – so can’t say about that.
