Guest guest
Hi Mark, I am sorry to hear of your problems. Unfortunately, NF2 is the kind of disorder that often involves periodic attention. I don't think the disorder has " caught up " with you - I am always scared when something new happens too. I'm sure all will work out well and you will be back to your old self in no time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Looking forward to seeing you back on the Crew, ---------- From: Mark Sarmac Sent: Saturday, September 23, 2000 9:28 PM To: NF2_Crewegroups Subject: Intercranial pressure: returned Hello Crew, Well, I just want to tell you all that I just got back from UCLA Medical Center today because apparently the papilledema (swollen bloodvesselvs in my eyes due to high intercranial pressure) has returned. What was interesting about this situation is a my optometrist had told me the papilledema returned because I had complained of 'blindspots'. At first my optometrist thought they were a thing called, " floaters " , which were nothing serious. But after a few more up close looks, it turned out to be more than " floaters. " Well, to make a long story short. I called my neurosurgeon at UCLA and he informed me to go to the ER at UCLA that night so I did. It took me a while to get a doctor to have a look at me, but when he finally did. The doc said I had a little hydrocephalic (water in the brain) due to the intercranial pressure. So with that said, I had a 2 day hospital stay where they gave me Decadrone again and had told me that my tumors needed debulking. I had asked, " when? " and they said, " a week from now because one of the most experienced neurosurgeons of that team isn't a available. " I've been dischaged from UCLA this afternoon with a prescription of Decadrone and I'm due back within a week for the debulking. With that said, I am scared. It seems as if NF2 has finally caught up with me. I guess my purpose of this email is to inform you all of what's going on with me and if you don't get email from me for a while, you know why.
