Guest guest
Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society closed down Dear Members, I am sad to report that Chhattisgarh SACS is not the only SACS closed down. The new Project Director of ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY has terminated the services of NGO-ADVISOR, all the COUNSELORS, LAB-TECHNICIANS OF all 9 VCCTCS & all the staff of ANACS w.e.f. 1st April 2006. His decision is in clear violations of the instruction from NACO to engage the old trained and qualified staff of NACP-phase-11 on fresh contract. But, the present project director arbitrarily acting with the intention to get some 'premium' out of fresh appointments of untrained individuals. The present staff are trained extensively at various states spending Lakhs of public money. A 65 years old retired person is engaged by the present project director as Procurement Officer cum Finance Officer so that outright purchase will go on smoothly and this new recruit will not be held accountable by anybody as he is engaged on leave vacancy against nobody has taken leave and project director will have lion's share of the booty. The issue for concern is that the TI's, VCCTC, PPTCT are running but there are no staff to supervise and manage them. Similar to the Chhattisgarh situation, we are also experiencing such a poor state of affairs. If the States/UTs are given so much freedom that they can fire all their staff and close down the office against the NACO directions and still get funds from NACO, there is something seriously wrong some where. The SACS staff are all in a state of shock and they find themselves out of job without even a full months notice. The programs being run are also not very much present in the field. There are no initiatives from the Project Director other than fighting with staff of ANACS. I urge all the members of this FORUM to give their opinion on what to do with this state of affairs. Dear moderator, due to obvious reasons I would like remain anonymous. Don't post my e-mail id. This is a small place I fear retribution. Please help.
