Guest guest
Hi all, I apologize right now if this sounds disjointed or incoherrant-I'm having a hard time organizing my thoughts. I'm can't seem to deal with the end of this cycle as well as all the others. This was my 5th Clomid cycle after 18 months TTC #1 (I'm completely annovulatory without drugs). I was on 100 mg days 5-9. I even ovulated earlier than expected on day 18 (which ended up cancelling my post-coital and follie scan appointment). I had 8 days with temps over 98 degrees when all other ovulating cycles had exactly 5 days. I didn't have any cramping or bloating or other PMS symptoms. I also added one day to my previous longest LP without spotting. I went to bed convinced last night that I was pregnant and I woke up wanting to smash my thermometer! Here's a link to my FF chart for anyone interested: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/e5bb/. DH also made me take an HPT, EFR (Early First Response) 14 dpo and it was a BGN (big giant negative). I've had visual problems on Clomid. First at 150 mg so we went back to 100 mg. This last cycle, I had problems the morning after my last dose and then again days 8-10 after OVULATION when it had been weeks since my last dose. I'm not sure what to think and I haven't been able to reach my RE yet. She knows about the first episode this cycle and said we would " take that into consideration " if we had to worry about another cycle. I've pretty much decided that I don't want any more Clomid. I feel like I've given it a very fair try and I want to move on. Monday will be the earliest I can speak with my RE. I did, however, send her an E-mail. I still haven't seen hide nor hair of AF. My question is concerning injectible drugs. My insurance company's official policy on IF issues is they will treat the cause of infertility without resorting to ART (advanced reproductive therapy). They paid for my Clomid to induce ovulation. If I have problems with the side effects of Clomid, shouldn't they therefore pay for the more expensive injectible drugs that also induce ovulation but don't have the same side effects? Do I even have a leg to stand on here? Beth, I know you've spoken in the past about the " gray " market for these drugs. I would love to know anything more specific you may be able to tell me. I've also discussed a road-trip to Canada to buy the same drugs from a pharmacy there with my DH. If anyone knows anything about this, I would be eternally grateful if you would share your knowledge with me. Well, I'm going to indulge in pizza, mindless videos, and beer. TIA. Guest guest
Becki, I don't know much about injectable meds, as I've never used them, but I am in Canada (Ontario) and generally speaking, medications here are MORE restricted and harder to get than in the US. My OB/GYN is a fertility specialist and I know that most meds she gives are by prescription only, so you wouldn't be able to buy them at a pharmacy on your own. I don't know whether a pharmacist here would honour a US-based prescription, although it is possible that meds here are cheaper. I just wanted to recommend you do more research before taking a road-trip here, just to make sure it's worth your while. Take care, Lia UD
