Hello everyone,

Long message ahead.

I am new to the group and have been having nothing but trouble for the

last year. For about the last year my periods have been so out of

control and getting worse every single month. I cannot even go

anywhere but work and home for about the first 5 to 7 days of my

period, am constantly having to change both the tampon and pad every 1

1/4 hours. For the 9 - 10 days that my period lasts, I am usually

living on three to four times the recommended doses of first Advil,

then to Motrin and last Aleve until last month when I was put on Vioxx

which seem to handle the cramps. Of course, I won't know how it truly

handles the vice like pain that last for 48 hours straight every month

which starts in the middle of the night and wakes me up and I end up

screaming and crying for about two hours until the medications finally

take effect. I will see in about two to three days how that works

since I am now taking 50 mg of Vioxx for it and my period should start

this weekend.

The doctor has put me on birth control pills to try to make the

bleeding lighter, I will see if it does anything in a few days when my

period should start. But she has not done anything to shrink the

fibroid or the uterus which is enlarged due to the fibroid. They also

found on the ultrasound some liquid around that area but she said that

would be from the ovulation which leaves some liquid, but my

ultrasound was taken two - four days before my period so I thought

there should not be anything from that left.

On top of all this, I am also having to see a Gastroenterologist

because my bowels seem to be all screwed up and that is causing me

other problems. I want her to see if this is actually all related or

am I just falling apart.

By the way, I am 36 years old, plan on not having my own children, but

adopting older children instead (since I was 14 1/2 years old I knew I

was never having children, don't have any patience for babies or

infants, and never will) but of course I feel like my doctor has not

listened to me about this because she keeps ignoring my questioning

about what we can do to get the fibroid and uterus shrunk. My next

appointment is in about three weeks and I actually asked my mother to

come with me so we can actually get answers to all my questions and

also to make sure she gives me a estrogen free birth control since

everything I have read says that estrogen promotes the fibroid to

grow.
