I've been calling and calling Merk (the maker) to even get the single doses but they aren't available. I have one week left before the dr apt to argue my case again. I have an absolutely fantastic pediatrician. We only disagree about vaccines. I want to break this one up. HELP everyone, do you know how I can get the singles? " If he tries to sway you, calmly repeat your phrase, same words, same calm voice. If he presses urgency, then you can say, " Yes I agree this is urgent, so I thank you for doing what you can to quickly secure the single dose vaccines. There are medical exemptions and philosophical and religious waivers for those for whom they apply. There is a lot of controversy about vaccines. Dr. CAVE has written a format that she believes is much safer than standard protocol. The shots are separated and given at different intervals. She does not approve vaccines with thimerosol. Thimerosol, mercury preservative, is suspect in cases of autism. Check to be sure that any vaccine your child receives does not have this neurotoxin. She states she does not have ANYcases of kids getting autism after following her protocol, and she has treated many, many kids. Some people believe the vaccines should be given at longer intervals, and some believe they should not be given at all. It is wise to research carefully any decisions that are made. There are CHARGE kids with immune dysfunctions that are documented, and there are CHARGE kids where immune dysfunction seems present but it is not documented. If your child has a reaction to a vaccine or has seizure disorder or otherwise seems immune compromised, it is smart to carefully investigate all information on this topic. Our middle child, who does not have CHARGE, had a serious reaction to his 4 month shots. Because of that I was extremely cautious in having Kendra vaccinated. It was difficult to find a good time to get the vaccinations in as she was always either sick, on antibiotics or on steroid medications. She did get all her shots, but it was not easy. These are difficult questions with no easy answers. I think it is in everyone's best interest to become as educated as possible on the topic of vaccinations. (DAN!) conference is in a few weeks. While I don't know if Kendra's vaccines are responsible for the autism, I do strongly suspect they are related. I believe there are factors related to the immune system in CHARGE that have not been identified or studied yet.
