Guest guest
There is an email trail on the NaturalThyroidHormones Yahoo group that I wanted everyone to be aware of. A Val V. wrote about a change in formulation of Armour in which they replaced the majority of the dextrose with cellulose. This caused two problems to occur. First, it tastes bad to take it sublingually. Second, the increase in cellulose causes it to disintegrate rapidly, thereby not allowing it to be absorbed correctly. There are an additional 504 members on this site. Some are duplicates, some are not. Please everyone help in this endeavor. Hillary HERE IS THE TEXT OF THE EMAIL: This morning I spoke with Pam Harry in the Quality Assurance Department at Forest Pharmaceuticals. She did not know why the change in formulation took place. She did however admit to having just recently found out some people take their pills sublingually. I said the change in formulation will make it very unpleasant to take our pills by this method. She said they decreased the dextrose and increased the cellulose proportionately however DID NOT remove the dextrose entirely. No other changes were made to any active ingredients. In my opinion, more than likely the reason for the change is that in mass production, cellulose is cheaper than dextrose. The increase in cellulose would account for the faster dissolving rate of the new tablets as Val mentioned earlier. Ugh, it is always about the money! I left another message for her asking her about it, however have not yet received a response. In the message, I explained that with the faster dissolving rate the pills will not be absorbed completely sublingually. It takes time for it to get into the bloodstream by this method and if it just falls apart this will not happen. I gave her the StopTheThyroidMadness website and about these groups. I told her that it is already flying back and forth about the change. Additionally, I told her many take their Armour in multiple doses a day and currently it takes about 20 minutes for it to dissolve. Having quick dissolving chalk in one's mouth multiple times in a day would not be fun nor serve us in the manner to which we are accustomed. She said that they take all the complaints and forward them to the appropriate people. Although a little hesitant at being overwhelmed by phone calls, she gave me her number. I ask that EVERYONE give her a call and voice your complaint about the formulation change. She said that if enough people call about this it may make a difference. Doesn't matter what time you call, if you get her voice-mail, please leave your name and phone number and that you want back the previous formulation of Armour Thyroid. PLEASE CALL AND VOICE YOUR OPINION!! Pam Harry, Q.A. Forest Pharmaceuticals 800/678-1605 x7023 There are 4331 of us in this group and growing. We can make a difference!!
