Guest guest
Ginny, Thanks for your response. My Mark was not toilet trained until about 7 or 8. He did fine up until around 13 when he started having trouble with frequent loose stools and some accidents. After many visits to the Dr's and specialists he was diagnosed Lactose intolerant and we had a handle on our problems once again. Then about a year after that he started with some urinary frequency and that progressed to some accidents and now we are at the point where he has to wear padding all day and night because of some incontinence. It is always worse when he has an infection of any kind. Sometimes this is my first sign of a problem elsewhere. He has been through the battery of tests also. Opposite of your problem he has a bladder on the small side. He also has bladder spasms but so frequently that he can hold very little urine. He was diagnosed with a POSSIBLE interstitial cystitis. He is currently on Petrol, Elmira, and just started again on DDAVP at night. We are very discouraged about this problem cropping up in adolescence. Glad to see you on the list. Guest guest
I almost apologize for responding tonight. is home from Perkins, and we're going through another round of fluctuating OCD and bowel issues. By this time of night (and we're true night owls usually), my entire body, much less my brain, is fried... However, I don't know if I've ever shared this on the list. Several of 's aides have suggested that her incontinence occurs when her OCD is so severe that she simply is overwhelmed by it. I think there are other issues as well (times of too many meds especially), but the more I watch, the more confident I am that these kids are right. It's as though the OCD gets so horrid that at times (luckily infrequently now) she simply wets. If this doesn't make sense, ask questions, and I'll respond when saner moments hit! Guest guest
I posted after reading 's email, but just scrolled down to your original question. Now, I have another personal obervation and a question. definitely has urinary accidents when she is constipated; as her parents we are certain of this. Has a doctor ever addressed this - ever given a possible explanation. We've never heard anything about this! Thanks. Martha

Guest guest
Hello again, Mark is very rarely ever constipated. I do think though that now he has become accustom to his " accidents. " If he wets he comes to me and signs " W " which he has made his sign for wet and wants to change right away. That is one reason why I tried to avoid the padding for so long. I don't want him to quit using the bathroom UGH!! It is so darn frustrating.
