Guest guest
When you say food through the g-tube, what are you feeding her and how did you build up? We have been trying to advance Dylan from his infant formula for 4 or 5 years, but he is so sensitive to any change. Our goal is to get him on a formula we make from whole foods. I have just started working with a Dr. of Naturopathy who also has a Ph.D. in nutrition to help us sort it out. The input from the dietician was not enough. Dylan is so much more alert, active and interested in things, since we have started this regimen. He says right now we are just creating a nutritional base and then we will go from there towards the whole foods formula. And yes, I think we all have to do our own research. I think mainly because I look at Dylan's Dr's as advisors. They give advice based on their knowledge and experience, but it is only one piece of the puzzle. There are so many other pieces with our kids, that I think traditional allopathic medicine can only do so much with. I wouldn't go without them in a million years, but there comes a point when they have done all they can. Well she has a slow emptying time, so now do we give meds or do we look for other options. Maybe there aren't any, but I prefer to look into it just to make sure. Luckily Dylan's pediatrician supports us in this and as long as he feels it won't cause any harm then he supports us trying new things, even if he doesn't believe it will make any difference. He still helps us coordinate the whole picture. Guest guest
Candace, No, we were never on saliva drying meds...we were lucky in that respect I guess, she seemed to handle her secretions okay. Re: the research - ABSOLUTELY!!! Whenever anything new comes up, or I hear about something, I try to do as much research as possible. Doctors hate me (the bad ones anyway!!!) Oh well! I think it helps me cope to know as much as humanly possible... I have never had any nursing with Kennedy, just one HECK of a husband who has been an ANGEL through all of this.... ~ Weir Mom to Kennedy, 4yr old CHARGEr, 12, 11, and wife to Graeme New Brunswick, Canada Visit the Weir Website: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/gweir ICQ# 1426476 Slow Digestion > > > Hello, > > Has anyone encountered very slow digestion with their child?
