Hi ,

You are not alone. I have lost 16.3 pounds since March 01, 2001! Studies

show that the slower you lose it the more successful you will be with

keeping it off! Over time I have learned to celebrate every loss no matter

how small. Just remember everyone's bodies are different and if we weren't

following the program would we weigh any less than before we started? I

don't think so! So here's to us slow losers!

My leader often says " If we were to analyze everyone's journals, we'd be

amazed to discover that we're on the same program " .

Everyone is different. I, too, was upset when I'd hear people losing lots

and lots of pounds compared to my measly 1.4 (average) pounds a week. I was

a pretty consistent loser, though. I could almost bank on losing about a

pound a week. There are others in my group who lose 2 pounds one week and

then 'freak' when they only lose 1/2 a pound the next week.

I'm on week 8 ... so I started about the same time as you ... and have 11.8

pounds gone. Am I worried about? No ... am I discouraged? Not any more.

This week I lost a BIG bunch (for me at least) -- a whol3 3.2 pounds. I

hadn't thought I was going to lose anything, but surprised myself. It

simply made up for the 1/2 pound gain I had the week before. <*guilty

look*> But, I know the 1/2 pound could have been from ANYTHING ...

... I wore different shoes

... I wore jeans instead of shorts

... I wore a sweater instead of a T-shirt

... it was almost TOM

... ALIEN INVASION !

You know ... anything! =-)

Keep at it, as you said you would, in the end, it doesn't matter how much

you lost each week ... just that you lost it.

How the @#$@#$ does someone lost 22 pounds since Aug 21st? I've been on the program since Aug 1st, and have only lost 12 pounds. I'm feeling very frustrated today, because I weigh-in tonight and I know that I've only lost a pound (or less), as usual.

22 pounds in 5 weeks in incredible. Valeri, keep up the good work.

You are doing fantastic!! It has been very depressing for me to see people lose 2-3 pounds a week, when I'm doing everything right

Hi ,

I don't have any wonderful advice for the metabolism kick start. I hate for you to be discouraged though. I saw that your starting weight is 211. I think that it may be that my weight is much higher, so I lose faster. (I started at 349.. now 327) I think 12 lbs is great though. Any loss is great! Keep up the good work!

Everyone losses at different rates. You have to find what

combination works for you (maybe different types of foods, more or

less exercise, etc). I think for most people, the average is 1-2

pounds a week. Remember they say that the slower you lose it, the

more likely you are to keep it off.

Personally, I flop around. Most times I stay around 1-2 pounds a

week and every once in a while I will do 3-5 pounds a week.

Everything works into it diet, exercise, hormones (TOM is usually the

same or down 1 pound).

Hope this helps!

Dear ,

Welcome and thanks for chiming in. I know that this is not what you want to hear but we all lose at different rates. I am like you, I am a slow loser also what helps us is our attitude. I like you am in this for the long haul not just for now, I have to remind myself of this when I get down I also have to look at how far I have come, If I focus on how long it is taking me then I get off track and it takes me even longer. Please let us know how your weigh in goes, I am curios how the plan will work for you, I have thought about doing this myself.

hello kelly, i also have gotten a little sadden when i

startted. i joined after my sister in law and mother in law joined.

they were lossing 5 somtimes 10 pounds in one week and ever since i

joined i only lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. it breaks my heart when i

hear them say that they have lost so much and i have lost so little

but then when i hear ppl say how if you lose slow you are more apt to

keeping it off. so that gets me a little giddy thinking i might have

a better chance then them on keeping it off. dosnt that sound bad?

but it does keep me going on wantting to accomplish my goal wich i am

still to scared to pick one out, thinking i might not be able to get

down that low. well i have hit a plato (cant spell) and have been at

169 for 5 weeks now but i am not trying as hard as i was in the

beggining. i have moved states and i took awhile b4 going back to

meetings but i am glad that i didnt gain durring that period. i am

trying harder now that things are almost back to norm and hopfully

when we move back home in may i will be a lot slimmer and i can show

off to my in laws. well just dont lose track of why you are doing

this. it will make a better inner and outter you! keep it up. and

dont go with what others lose or it does make you bitter and you will

want to give up, thinking you cant do it like everyone else. just

remmeber not everyone is doing it as good as some but it will pay off

whatever you do in the end when you stick to

it. hugs, keri

Welcome, , It is discouraging not to loose faster but we are all

different. I lost 3 pounds at WW yesterday but next week it will probably be

point something. Just keep plodding a long and it will come off..

I'm new to this board too, havn't written much i'm

sorry but found that all of these e-mails are a lot to

go through. I work full time, have two children age 4

and also attend college....so i find my time limited

to e-mail. I need a bit of help and encouragement

though - finding it hard recently to stay motivated!

Have lost weight and clothes are fitting looser, but

just can't get in the mood to NOT eat chocolate. It's

not TOM either. And I have not deprived myself - I

try to fit something in sweet once a week. Any suggestions?

Ann,

Welcome and thanks for posting. I try to give myself something sweet each day. It is usually only 1-2 points but it helps with that craving. Have you tried the No Pudge brownies? They are available at Trader Joes or you can order them online at www.Nopudge.com. I also have a ff pudding to satisfy one of my dairies for the day because I do not drink milk. I hope this helps. I have been doing this for a while and have lost over 75 lbs, but I find I must shake things up a bit and add new things often or I also lose my motivation. Let us know how you are doing.

Thanks for the information. I will have to try a FF

pudding...and i guess i'll have to look up the no

pudge brownies, have never heard of those.

Congratulations on losing 75 lbs plus. That is

terrific. I have only lost 11 lbs and have 46 more to

go!!!! Seems like a LONG way, but well worth it. Ann

I understand about the lack of time!! Sounds like you're doing what I would do with the chocolate. I don't think it helps to totally deprive yourself of something if you're really craving it. Don't want to binge one day on one food!! On weeks I'm craving sweets I work in 2 points a day for a Kudos or have a 1 point blue bunny fudge bar (or two bars depending on my level of craving!!). You can do this Ann!! We are here for you!!

I'm new to this board too, havn't written much i'msorry but found that all of these e-mails are a lot togo through. I work full time, have two children age 4and also attend college....so i find my time limitedto e-mail. I need a bit of help and encouragementthough - finding it hard recently to stay motivated! Have lost weight and clothes are fitting looser, butjust can't get in the mood to NOT eat chocolate. It'snot TOM either. And I have not deprived myself - Itry to fit something in sweet once a week. Any suggestions?
