I can tell you right now I would do it all over again. I am down 62 lbs in 3

months and love it. Now I can't tell you it's been easy because it isn't you

have to really work at this. Right now I am dealing with the emotional part of

it. I miss my food and I am having some hormonal changes. But this is something

I can work through. This decision is such a hard decision to make. No one can

tell you which way to go. I can tell you it worked well for me, but it doesn't

mean it is going to work the same for you. There are risks with surgery that

your surgeon will go over with you. I am very successful with this so far as are

most of the people I know that chose to have this surgery. I think you just need

to be prepared that it is not an easy way out. I struggle everyday to get my

protein in and my water and vitamins. I had a very hard time in the beginning

because I wanted my normal meal. Boy did I have buyers remorse for about 2

weeks, then I was able to start eating regular food again.

I'll tell ya I look at food a whole different way now. I am very careful what I

choose. I don't want to put any junk food into my system. I know that I can eat

quite a few things, but I choose not to. That doesn't mean I don't try something

here and there. I have to get that craving out of the way sometimes, but it only

takes a small bite to satisfy me. Well Esther I hope I was of some help. Good

luck with whatever decision you decide to make. I did this for my health and it

worked for me. If you need to talk or have any ?'s feel free to e-mail me your #

I don't know you much beyond this cyber world, but the person I see

and the person's posts I have read show me that you are a beautiful

woman, inside and out, and that you can and will get through this

difficult time of your life. Please, if you've not considered it,

think about seeing a therapist, and perhaps talk to your PCP about an

anti-depressant--IF they believe you need it.

Depression after surgery is common, and the best way to fight it is

to deal with it head on. You were strong enough to take the steps

you needed to take to have surgery--I KNOW that you can do whatever

you need to do to fight this depression too!

I am 5'4 and I weighed 270. I am was about 130lbs overweight. I have been

overweight 13 years. My recovery period was quick. I was up 2 hours after

surgery. It only hurt the first 2 hours because I couldn't take morphine. The

gas can be a little painful, but it goes away with walking. Some people I know

went back to work right away. You will go through a period of no energy. I am

still trying to fully regain my energy level. But everyone is different. I

can't tell you exactly how you are going to fell I can only tell you my

experience. You might be up right away and back at work the next week, or not.

Remember I told you there can be compications, so you can never say for sure.

For the most part recovery on the average is about 1-2 weeks.

I am supposed to take a protein supp. but they make me sick. I just try to put

more protein in my diet. Everything I eat primarly consists of protein. Small

amounts of sugar and fat do not make me sick. A lot of people do get sick

though. My system just took differently to the surgery. There are a few foods I

can not tolerate but not many. Everyone is diffrerent. You can always see what

your doc thinks about the surgery and start going through the approval process.

You can always change your mind prior to surgery. Be prepared it can be a long

process and some docs don't like this surgery. Then there are some that totally

agree and will help you get approved quickly. Do you have an HMO or PPO?

you it's been easy because it isn't you have to really work at this. Right now I

am dealing with the emotional part of it. I miss my food and I am having some

hormonal changes. But this is something I can work through. This decision is

such a hard decision to make. No one can tell you which way to go. I can tell

you it worked well for me, but it doesn't mean it is going to work the same for

you. There are risks with surgery that your surgeon will go over with you. I am

very successful with this so far as are most of the people I know that chose to

have this surgery. I think you just need to be prepared that it is not an easy

way out. I struggle everyday to get my protein in and my water and vitamins. I

had a very hard time in the beginning because I wanted my normal meal. Boy did

I have buyers remorse for about 2 weeks,

then I was able to start eating regular food again.

If you need to talk or have any ?'s feel free to e-mail me your #

think about seeing a therapist, and perhaps talk to your PCP about an

anti-depressant--IF they believe you need it.

Depression after surgery is common, and the best way to fight it is

to deal with it head on. You were strong enough to take the steps

It all depends. Dp you have any heart probs or high blood pressure or diabetes.

Those probs will get you in usually withou any ?'s. Also sleep apnea, bladder

control, leg probs and circulation. There are others but I don't remember. It

will all depend on your doc. I didn't have any major probs but I have a very bad

family history and some female probs. Kaiser was starting the process then I

changed insurance to a PPO and the PPO approved me immediately. Make sure to

mention every little problem you have, I mean everything. They may qualify

without any ?'s.

anti-depressant--IF they believe you need it.

Depression after surgery is common, and the best way to fight it is

way out. I struggle everyday to get my protein in and my water and vitamins. I

had a very hard time in the beginning because I wanted my normal meal. Boy did

I have buyers remorse for about 2 weeks,

then I was able to start eating regular food again.

If you need to talk or have any ?'s feel free to e-mail me your #

.. My e-mail address is mom2grtkidz@... . Take care and good luck.

on vacation again to Arizona to look for a house. I want to thank everyone for

supporting me through this tough time. I know I will make it through this. I am

feeling pretty good today. I will get in touch with a therapist. I'll tell ya a

2 year old will put you in therapy....LOL. On the physical side I am doing

pretty good and feeling great. I eat very well and I can just about tolerate any

food. I am very careful about sugar, and greasy foods. Now I have cheated a

little by tasting something sweet, but I usually will take just a bite. I don't

like carbs very much right now, I feel like they cheat me out of food. I get so

full with carbs. My menu is till pretty boring so I am looking for new

suggestions. I am hispanic so you can imagine the amout of beans I eat everyday.

So any mexican dish ideas?????? I need to expand my menu. Now keep in mind I am

not much of a veggie eater so it limits my choices. Well

everyone again for all the support. I keep you

posted.

Love yourself Celeste!
