Guest guest Posted August 14, 2006 Report Share Posted August 14, 2006 Vacancy announcement: TANSACS & U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC)/Global AIDS Program-India and TANSACS (Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society) invite applications for the following positions for their HIV prevention activities in Tamil Nadu. The applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills, passion, and the ability to think critically in the context of health and development. He or she should demonstrate supervisory skills and offer technical support to field workers and community volunteers. He or she should also have demonstrated high level organizational capability in past work experience. The applicants should have a post graduate qualification in the social sciences, social work/arts, or other related fields, with at least five years experience in social/development projects. Position 1: Training Consultant (Self Help Groups): The incumbent will liaise with the Tamil Nadu Women's Development Corporation and TANSACS. He or she will provide management support to TANSACS and technical support to trainers at the district level to implement an innovative training, Skill Building in issues of Sexual Health & HIV, to SHG lead members. Skills in community mobilization, program planning, and administrative leadership are desired. Past experience in working in gender disparity interventions and/or Self Help Groups is preferable. Women are encouraged to apply for this position. The selected candidates will be expected to travel extensively within the state and possess excellent communication skills in Tamil and English. Willingness to work with vulnerable populations, mentoring skills, and ability to foster team building are required. The incumbent must encourage critical thinking and value opinions. The salary package will be commensurate with experience and other similar positions in the field. The Consultants will be offered appropriate training and mentoring by CDC and TANSACS. Skills in student mobilization, program planning, and administrative leadership are desired. Previous experience of working with University/College networks will be given preference. The selected candidates will be expected to travel extensively within the state and possess excellent communication skills in Tamil and English.
