Guest guest
Hi ladies! I just wanted to send you a quick update. I may not be posting much the next 2 days as things are hectic (although I may give in to the obsession)- then I am heading out to San Diego! So, I'll miss you guys and " see " ya next week. Hope all is well with you guys. Here's my update.... Had my 23 week appointment with the perinatologist this morning. They did abdominal and vaginal ultrasounds. The technician said everything looked great and was measuring perfectly on target at 23w2d. She looked at things such as the head, arms, kidneys, heart and spine. The baby weighs 1 lb. 7 oz - amazing considering only 2 weeks ago it weight 1 lb. 1 oz.! I saw our little one punching itself in the face! It was too funny. But, the tech also said that the baby is very active (although I knew that) which is a great indicator of it's well- being. Then, the peri came in. My cervix is measuring at 5. She said that's perfect. They like to see it between 3 and 5. 2 is considered short. So, I'm doing well there which is a relief. I also had my first fetal fibronectin test (FFN) and get the results tomorrow. This predicts the next 3 weeks (to 95% degree accuracy) of pre-term labor. She also said it would indicate any leakage of amniotic fluid. We discussed IC and the risks going down at 22 weeks (my doc didn't agree with this). But, although she can't make predictions, she feels positive about the way things are going. As far as viability and comfort points. She said at 24 + weeks, they will try to rescucitate a baby, but the outcomes aren't very good. At 28+ weeks the outcomes are much better, but there still may be problems. At 32 + weeks, the outcomes are very good. So, our 2 milestones are 28 weeks, then 32. She wouldn't predict how long I'd hang in there, but said that with the results of the FFN we can predict to a 95% accuracy the next 3 weeks. My next milestones are 28 weeks, then 32 weeks. Here's to hoping everything goes well! Take care! I hope you are all doing well. And, I'll see ya next week! Best wishes to you all.
