Hi Amy,

Several of the books I have read have shown studies that were done with

fibro patients and people with no pain issues. They used an special MRI and

when a small pain stimulus was applied, the patients with fibro had a much

higher response in the part of the brain related to pain than the non fibro

people. LOL, since that probably didnt make sense, yep, people with fibro

have a much higher sensitivity to pain :-)

Hugs,

> Jaana, I was the SAME way before. Now I find that even a scratch on my

hand from playing with my kittens bothers me all day long. What I would like

to know is, does FM give us more pain to deal with? Or does it just make us

highly sensitive to any pain, big and small?

Hi Amy,

No, from the way I understand it we are expeincing physical problems that

cause pain, but the pain is amplified many times greater than what another

person without fibro might feel. Let me see if I can find the study and I

will email it to you, I'm not very good at explaning things sometimes :-(

Hi,

With Myofascial Pain Syndrome it puts our bodies/muscles in the "fight or flight" response all the time. At least those areas that are subjected to MPS. That's the way my doctor described it to me.
