Welcome aboard! I made it into the wonderful world of 50 about 5 years ago. Enjoy! You are now old enough to SAY what you want, and be damned with the consequences (within reason of course!) I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to relive those early years, I really like where I am at! I really agree with you about walking in the rain at the beach....awesome. That is where I would like to be in 10 years, retired and at the beach. My dream is to open my back door and be ON the beach! (With the lobster cooking on the stove)

Welcome to a great list Simmie.

You will love our wild and whacky group.

Sometimes we get a little off topic, but there is

warmth and more support than you can imagine.

You will find this group to be very knowledgeable

regarding low carbing as well as exercise.

Welcome Simmie. Oh you are just a spring chicken to me as I have a few years

on you.

I got very excited reading about your cats. I have 5 Himalayans and a

Persian and an orange tabby.

Hope you enjoy your time here. we tend to be more friendly than factual,

that is to say we get carried away at times.

My Himalayan is my nurturer. I love her dearly [as I do the other one as

well, but he tends to be standoffish at times]. I got the Tiger-stripe as

a Christmas gift 11 years ago, and he was destroying my counter during the

day when I was at work. A friend had the Himalayan given to them by

someone else whose hubs was throwing her [the cat] in the shower and

turning on the water, or throwing her in the pool. My friend's cat and

Snowy didn't get along, so she came to me one frightened little cat, at 1

year old. The two hissed at each other and she slept in the cat carrier

for two weeks <g>, but the two are great with each other. When I'm not

feeling well, or am just down in the dumps, the Himalayan comes over and

will NOT leave me wallow in my bad mood. One funny story, quickly: You'd

think she'd hate water, right? Not! She's been known to climb into the

bathtub with me and just walk around in it, purring so loud! When I take

showers, she does everything she can to get the door open so she can join

me, she loves the water.

>Hope you enjoy your time here. we tend to be more friendly than factual,

That's ok by me!!!!!

One question I do have -- I'm looking for ideas for side dishes to my

entrees and also some snacks. I've got the cream cheese with ham wrapped

around it snack as an idea, pre-cooked bacon, etc. Any other ideas?

Hi Simmie!

Glad to see that you joined (Simmie is on my meno list)....I really liked

your answers on the questionnaire, LOL. Did not know you lived in Canoga

Park...I have an aunt there (she is only three years older than me)...we are

going to be visiting her, but alas, she is moving to Arizona and that is

where we will be going.

There are a lot of recipes in the archives and on our home page. I have

been doing Atkins since 1997 but fell off the wagon (although I stuck around

here whining a lot) for two years and am back on induction again.

Welcome to the list Simmie!!!!!!!! Great to have you aboard! Feel free to

post any time, ask questions, comment...whatever. We are all pretty nice

here (we have to be or else!!! *LOL*)

My grandmother lived in Canoga Park, so I'm familiar with it. She passed

away in September, sweet little thing, but she's not in pain now. I live

near Palm Springs and my mom lives in Visalia and there are other list

members who live in California on here too! Enjoying our weather???

I see you have animals... wellllllllll, maybe you'll be interested in

joining Norma's list for pet owners. If you are, she can send you the URL.

It's just a fun place to chat about our animals (like we don't do it

here...*LOL*). Norma has himalayan's too.

My favorite color is purple, I too have acrylic nails, I love driving to the

beach PERIOD, haven't walked in the rain although I'm sure I'd LOVE that and

I also want a HUGE lobster... but why wait? I WANT ONE RIGHT NOW FOR

BREAKFAST... Haahahahahahaaaaaa

Welcome to the list! I'm sure you'll LOVE it here..

I'll have to check that out, thanks Joya.

ROFL I've been doing the induction for about 3 days and have been trying to

stay at 0 carbs, as we decided the weight would come off faster. And my

doctor said that because I really don't have any health problems other than

short of breath due to couch-potato syndrome <g>, for two weeks it wouldn't

hurt.

But I'm finding that I am parched all the time, I can't get enough water or

soda or liquids down me. And right now I have a horrid case of the flu AND

a cold, and am sneezing and well you know what happens to your bladder when

you get older!

nuke cheese in the microwave and make cheese crisps...can be dipped in the

cream cheese...yummy! same with pepperoni. Pork rinds of course.

is pretty good at these ideas so when she comes on I am sure she

will give you some....the cabbage thing seems like it would be a good snack

too. As for side dishes...loads of those...did you check our page? Not

sure if there is a side dish section but there should be one there.

Your dream is supposed to come true for me this year! We have the property and DH gave me permission just the other day to start the nagging so he can design the house....it is going to be a weekend house for now, but eventually I imagine we will move out there...not until there is internet for sure!!!!!

  • 4 years later...

Hi all! I just got the invite here so thought I should introduce

myself. My name is Kristy and I'm currently 1 year & 9 days post op.

I've lost 112-114 lbs (depending on the day) and am pretty much at

goal...give or take a pound or two. I had a relatively easy time...no

complications with surgery or from the surgery. I do dump off of sugar

& fat...so that helps keep me in line. I'm glad I did this and only

wish I did it earlier. Nice to meet you all...
