Hi Genie,

Sounds like you have TMJ and clentching and grinding teeth (TMJ) would cause myofascial pain. And it also causes pain in your teeth so you think it is a tooth ache but it is really from the TMJ.

Take care,

Elena

aloha genie!

no no no no - Myofacial pain is kinda the same as FMS -- oh shoot...i'm not the person to ask for the definition.... but from what i read: docs USED to refer to TMJ as "myofacial" -- but my understanding is that it means something else (pain in tissues or something like that)

If Myofacial pain is the reason I have been wearing salopas on my face I am in serious trouble. And by the way as I told every one a while back not to put them to close to tender areas down below, they work better than biore pore strips.

I have been diagnosed with TMJ for 25 years, but they went in and removed my wisdom teeth and except for the clicking and locking my joint does it did not help the pain from my forehead down to the jaw bone,,,,,I am so sick of this.....Debi YounceJaana Mäkipää wrote:

I also have TMJ and sometimes wonder that my teeth aren't as

bad as I expected them to be. My youngest brother has ground his teeth to

nubs. I catch myself " bearing down " and make myself stop. I've

got a crown on one of my molars that cracked when I passed out in the

bathroom about 5 years ago and a chunk fell out of it 6 months later.

Every once in a while another tiny piece comes off, and I try not to chew

on that side. I keep it clean as possible, but my teeth are really

crooked and I hate to smile because of them. At least the missing chunk

is on the inside. I paid $800 (after insurance) for that dratted crown,

and it lasted me less than 5 years. I'm sure not getting another one.

When this one finally falls out, they can just yank out the post it's

attached to. Maybe it'll straighten my teeth some. I've still got a

wisdom tooth, that tries to erupt every time I'm on my period. It aches

like all get-out, as it's severely impacted, but after the dry-socket

& bone infection I got after the one on the other side was removed,

I'm not going to chance it. Besides, with fibro, I've learned to redefine

pain, and a wisdom tooth moving around in my jaw isn't nearly as painful

as my hips and thighs are.

I too chew the insides of my cheeks, and I have a tendency to chew on my

lower lip as well, until I've got a huge lump. But I keep on chewing

away. I gave up gum after my crown broke, so I need something to chew on,

lol!

sometimes i wish i could just have the rest of my teeth pulled out and just get some dentures.....

I am having this done. My teeth are horrible - I have no back teeth on the bottom right, I have three broken front teeth and the rest of them are rotted very bad. I never had a cavity until I started having kids :( Everytime I was pregnant I had hyperemesis gravidirum (sp?) which means I through up the entire time - up to and including labor/delivery. I was on IV therapy, got a pic line, and a billion medicines shot in me. What suffered the most was my teeth - which are susceptible during pregnancy anyway. So now I will probably have all of them pulled in the next two months. They did root canals in a couple of my bottom teeth so that they can cut them off at the gumline and leave the roots in to perserve the bone, since I am so young. It sucks though - real bad.

But it will be nice to smile again :)

One of my brothers had all his teeth pulled when he was

about 24, because they were crooked (like mine and our other brother) and

he wanted to look good. So he got dentures, then went around blaming our

mother because she didn't get us braces when we were kids.
