Guest guest
Hi gang. Just a post to share my experience with MTX so far. I've been on it for 3 weeks now and, while I expected to not see results for months, I have had an amazing change! At first I was sure it had to be psychosomatic but I have a marked decrease in inflammation, pain, and stiffness. It's lasted almost a full week now so I'm hoping it's more than just " a good day " . I'm hoping I'm atypical in this case! I do have 3 days of nausea and excessive fatigue (above and beyond my normal RA fatigue) after taking it but if it means I can feel like I do today, I think it's worth it (yes, I'm taking folic acid). I'm certainly not back to what I was before the onset but I feel better today than I have in almost 3 months. I made the decision on my own *not* to take the prednisone. The rheumy prescribed it but wasn't insistent on my taking it. I'm leery of the many side effects and especially the compromised immune system. I've always been one to catch everything that was going around already - I don't really want to feed into that anymore than I have to. I'm doing my daily exercises for my hands that I learned in OT, taking my Omega-3, and trying to eat a healthier diet. My biggest challenge is resting enough, but I'm learning how and when to do that. Thank you all for being such wonderful resources and support!
