Oh yes Kari they do and I forget what it is called . Something that ends in

" ite " Vermiculite or something weird like that. It keeps the soil light.

And also some times there are pieces of white stuff like Styrofoam, really

small. Unless you have hit gold.

Your veggie must have been grown in hot house soil and not the good old

ground.

yep that would be vermiculite. its not a fertilizer its just something to

losen up the dirt so it doesnt pack down and keep it moist..probably so they

can pull the plants out of the soil easily you will see it in seed planters

if you buy them

*LOL* Those miners back in the 1800's found the last vein, used a HUGE

vacuum, and sucked it dry... now all we have is Vermiculite! I have some in

a baggie if you want it!
