Remember that once your temperature has risen for 3 days steady, you have already ovulated. That means that on that first day of the first 3 high temps., you have already ov'd a day or more previous - so this will not be a good way to time intercourse. Temp charting is GREAT for knowing how long your cycles are, spotting problems (luteal phase defect, annovulatory cycles, etc.), detecting pregnancy (18 or more high temps). EWCM is the best way to time intercourse when ttc. Personally, I have a bit of spotting with EWCM for 2 days, then nothing for a day or two, then my temp rises. Sometimes I have clear pain in my side, but not always. Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? This book really spells it out. The " Billings Method " (I have an old copy of this book, but haven't read it at length) doesn't focus on temps, only on EWCM. Also, if you are ttc, you have to be able to differentiate EWCM from sperm, which can " leak " for a day after sex.
