Guess what, I don't do it! Yeah, my house is a wreck and it's depressing but

you do what you can do and that's that. I'm lucky to get 1 meal a day on

the table for the family. My housework is just about doing laundry only. It's a

mess here but oh well....

Okay....I think I need to come watch you for a day. You would be an inspiration

w/ 2 kids

and RA. If you can manage that, then I need to stop complaining!

When I get tired, I sometimes think if I work at it, the tiredness will go

away. I do a little bit to encourage my body, but if it doesn't go away

after a short while, I have to give in and wait until it's gone. Like the

one time I wanted to take the car to the track. I had been planning this

time out for a while, to get some pics and tune it up. I hooked up the

trailer and loaded the car, and even strapped it down. All I had to do then

was to drive to the track, but I couldn't do it! When I'm down, I'm down,

and that's it.

I don't do any more than I have to on those days because if I do, I'll

just pay for it the next day.

Exhaustion, get to know your limits, try not to get exhausted, it only

complicates it further with fatigue. If I'm exhausted I rest. Learn to say NO to

doing somethings that end up putting more on you than you need. Some of my

family don't realize that I can no longer do alot of things like before, I am

not afraid to tell them How I feel and if I can not do something. Jean

Dennis,

Though I've not got a car to take to the track (and boy do I wish I did), I can

tell you that many days I have the same thing happen to me - - I'll get

everything ready - and then not have the energy to actually do what I've worked

so hard in preparation to do.....

When I'm done in, I'm done in.....

I used to cou ld push myself - and then I'd pay the next day - this last year

I've become unable to push myself any longer....

I just do what I can and try not to worry about the rest...

I agree.

I used to be the type who felt that I couldn't take a nap, couldn't stop and

rest... It was bad, people would see me as weak, etc...

Now, my philosophy has changed. If I need to rest, I rest. If I need to take a

nap in the middle of the day, I do that. I try, although I'm not always

successful, to not get down on myself for it. I find that allowing myself to

rest when I need to is helping me to feel better!

I is such a relief to read this! I have just quit a 20 year career because of

exhaustion. I am

sorry that you are going through this tough time but please know that there are

many of

us out here who understand!

On a related topic, do any of you feel like you're going to vomit and

faint after you do something like clean the bathtub or even just some

mild exercise? I just cleaned my tub and am feeling pretty ill. This

seems to be happening more often. Am I just out of shape? Could it be

caused my meds? Or is it just part of the RA/SLE and I'll have to just

put up with it?

Thanks for input,

I am only 47 years old and I am beat, I'm on enbrel, MTX, prednisone, mobic,

vicodin, and now a duiretic, Working is getting to be unbearable, I used to be

able to get up and be out the door in and hour & half, now its taking me an

extra hours, I feel like I am getting slower, and less motivated. And we are

suppose to work and handle our ADL's on top of this. They should make it easier

for RA patients to get disabilty. Not looking forward to the years ahead. Jean

OMG, YES!!!

I thought it was just because I'm out of shape. I haven't been to the

gym since last Feb, I was about 8mo pregnant. W/ my daughter, I

haven't gone back...but I use her, if that makes sense. I throw her

all around and upside down and tickle the heck out of her. I think

that's the only way I got my abs back!

Anyway, the other day, I was trimming my hedges. I was out of breath

1/2 way through. All I wanted to do was sit down! Then two days ago,

my husband and I decided to take my 2 dogs for a walk. He had the

dogs, and I carried my daughter, or let her walk next to me while

holding her hand. OMG...after 1 block, I was out of breath, and

exhausted. I could feel my heart POUNDING. I thought it would pop out

of my chest. I made my husband feel, because it was so weird.

I'm afraid that if I mention it to my doctor, they'll want to do a

stress test, and that's the LAST thing I want to do! If I feel sick

for several hours after just a little exercise, I'll be ill for

several days if I have to do one of those.

Hi All...

Teaching school, this became a big deal for me. How to get through the day

without just feeling like I was going to collapse at the end of the day. I work

with Special Ed kids who have behavior problems, and I came home every day just

totally exhausted. I learned the same lesson as the Ott did. When I got home, I

took my dogs for a walk, and then I laid down in bed until I needed to pick my

wife up from work.. When we got home, I would go back to bed and rest until

dinner was done. Since I do all the cooking, I came up with a lot of good

casserole dishes that I prepared on the weekends, and put in the freezer. Then I

just had to pop them in the oven and heat them up. When I got tired, I rested.

Plain and simple.

Now that it is summer, and I didn't get on for summer school, I am finding I

have more energy to do household chores. I guess all the work I did at school

got me into a little bit better shape than I thought. I have been able to go

swimming some lately, which really feels nice, as it is really hot and humid

down here in Houston. Plus, the swimming is good for me also.

Wow...you are a good inspiration. I think some days I'm just super

lazy, and if I could just motivate myself more, I can do it!
