Why is it that the day she appears on Oprah, that she is named to the board of directors of these 2 groups and for tha matter why both. There also does not appear mention in the press release of her family and their other involvements. I am not plugged in to this soap opra(h), but it seems to me that she and her family are taking autism and all of us for a ride. I don't think we need them. Guest guest
Actually Oprah plainly stated for the record that she had to put the autism speaks rep up to speaking up for her own children. That can only mean that the AS person WAS willing to appear on the show knowing that the obligatory CDC-planted doctor would spew lots and lots of " no evidence of harm " propaganda and she had no instinctive, initial desire to contradict what was being said. The same goes for the bogus CDC rate spewage which was allowed to go on unchecked and typically not well defined. This false notion that autism rates are currently 1 in 150 has been debunked. This level of " professionalism " , where the advocate fails to advocate undoubtedly due to financial and political implications is neither productive nor beneficial to our children's fight. > > > > We are gratified that she has become a Board > > Member of NAA and SafeMinds. Guest guest
Yikes. Although I don't fully agree with Joe, I think yelling at him in caps isn't the way to go. This is the first time The -Hildebrands have so publically talked about vaccines playing a role despite many opportunities. It wouldn't bother me so much if they didn't believe in that link, but they apparently do. I understand the skepticism. I thought it was interesting that her family ties weren't mentioned, but I'm sure she just wants to be known as a parent and not as a child of an NBC executive for this battle. She still has the resources, regardless. Pam > > > > We are gratified that she has become a Board > > Member of NAA and SafeMinds. Guest guest
Hvn safe, sorry you are going through this physical and emotional anguish just now. The doctor you're thinking of is Mehmet Oz. Here's his bio from Columbia U hospital: http://asp.cumc.columbia.edu/facdb/profile_list.asp?uni=mco2 & DepAffil=Surgery. Maybe addressing some message to him will help sway things. It's worth a try. All the best, Margh [ ] Re: NEW OPRAH GROUP: THE AGONY OF LYME Sorry...I just wrote a huge vent....but forgot to mention something... I dont watch Oprah too often....well, more so now that I am forced to the couch unwillingly due to this illness... ANYWAY....who is that doctor she has guest on her show a lot?? Not dr. phil....but the medical doc...not sure what his name is. I would suggest you to try to contact HIM and Oprah in conjunction....Maybe he can do some sort of segment on Lymes on the show.... Hope the suggestion helps. I will check out your message board....I think it is courageous of you to open that up for people..... When I am feeling a little more stable, i will gladly share my experience and story. Hang in there...our voices WILL be heard.
Guest guest
From a business stand point I think it would be a good idea to do an episode on hypothyroidism. Seeing as possibly 1 in 4 people have hypothyroidism it would appeal to practically everyone. People who have the syndrome, disease, etc. and people who know people with it. It's about time an accurate picture is portrayed. In a message dated 10/16/07 9:32:26 PM, nelsonck@... writes: > > I did see her show today and was disappointed. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. Can you tell me more about what the book teaches? I may just put it on my to-read list. Thanks!!!!!!! -- Re: Re: oprah Crystal...I have a friend who is a clinician specializing in trauma. She told me years ago about a book, _The Body Remebers: The Psychophysiology of Trauma and Trauma Treatment_ by Babette Rothschild. Psychoneuroimmunology looks at the mind-body connection. There are many books published regarding the effects of trauma on an individual...I've found Ms Rothchild's book very helpful. Best thoughts, Crystal wrote: >I'd like to add something. Guest guest
Hey everyone! It was so strange, I got home today from school, turned on the TV and was shocked to realize that it was Extra talking about Oprah's thyroid problem. I only saw the end of it which consisted of some " supposed to be experienced " doctor who was saying " All you have to do is get a simple test to check on how your thyroid is doing. Granted I didn't see the whole show so maybe I am incorrect but from what I heard, hypothyroidism is being represented very badly. I'm going to e-mail Oprah tonight lol. Guest guest
          Hahahaaaaa, I can just picture all of us on Oprah. Hahaaa, spacey, hungry, wondering how when we were trying to lose a couple pounds for the show actually gained ten? Hehe.           I'm seriously going to start mass e-mailing her myself about the fact that when you bring up a topic, it deserves to be represented accurately. She has severely failed to do this. Hypo slowly sucked my life away. Even now it is a daily struggle. It isn't just a weight issue solved by a simple test. Man, this p*sses me off. Guest guest
Right, other people do do a lot of work too, but she wouldn't do a show on something she didn't believe in.? Like if one of her producers gave her a script on how women are inferior, it's a fact, yada, yada, no way would she do it. If I didn't know much at all about?hypothyroidism and someone showed me that script, I wouldn't see anything to object to about it. She just doesn't know what so many of us go through. Re: Re: oprah Oprah doesn't make up the shows she does. She has several producers that do that type of thing. They do the research, they book the guests they brief Oprah, they have the scripts written up. Basically, they do all the work. Roni Re: oprah YES, I absolutely believe she is in the dark.
