I really enjoyed reading your post. Have you ever written anything ? Your

words flow together so well and kept my interest and wanting more.

I believe what you did hear was your Mother. I have heard too many stories

like this not to believe it,. It is heart warming to hear about your Mother.

No wonder you miss her.

I am off to clean for the holidays.

I will read your post again.

Norma - you're so sweet to me! I'm not really a writer - probably not

enough patience (so I became a MOM???).

It's still so hard for me to remember my Mom's last days - she was a young

woman, and even though she had been sick for a long time, she wasn't ready to

go. She told me I was the reason she'd " hung around " for longer than

expected. The day before she died, she told me she was afraid that this was

it, and that she'd be going to be with my Dad soon. She said she wasn't

afraid, it was more difficult to live with the illness than to think about

" letting go " . But she said that she would miss me too much, and so wanted

to hang around to help me. The one thing that would rip my world apart was

the one thing she couldn't help me with.

But on the other hand, I remember her taking on a pimp (with the white

lincoln Continental) who had rear-ended her little Rabbit diesel. He

finally just took off, tired of her yelling at him, and she tried to follow

him! Or the time that she got irritated at this carload of teenagers who

called her a name (she said PART of that isn't true) and ended up chasing

them for an hour, then getting in front of them at a stop light. When the

light turned green, she sat there......when it turned yellow, she put it in

reverse, then floored it. She left them there, with their hood up in the

air, radiator steaming - and calmly came back to pick me up from my ballet

lesson. She also got irritated at some kids who called her a name (you

just didn't do that) and follwed them home, got out of her car, and demanded

an apology. She was obviously ill, and if they'd done so much as push her,

they could have killed her - but she was miffed, and fnally got her

apology......

Did I get any of that spunk? Nope. Like she said, she raised three

WIMPS!!!!

Our day here has been pretty laid back. We pretty much just stay close to

home with the one brother that's near going through his psychotic

phase....and I saw their kids last week. My niece that's 19 this year

flew back to Indiana to spend Christmas with her boyfriends' family (it's her

parents that are being nasty) and I saw her last weekend. The other side

does Christmas Eve, and we weren't invited (no big deal). My kids saw their

Grandmother yesterday, and she did her usual " I'm dying soon " speech.

Things have really changed - now we just stay here, let the kids open

presents, have a lazy kind of day. We went to mass last night, but with

and her cold - I didn't feel I should keep her out too long.

I miss the old Christmases - with my Mom and Dad, and the chaos and noise of

the whole thing. If there was some way to have to good parts of those

days, with the good parts of today - I'd have it made! (But of course, I

still wouldn't realize it until it was gone).

Anyway, my kids had a pretty good day, and I guess that's all that counts.

Yes Terri, you are making memories for your children just as your parents

made ones for you. Wonder what they will say when they are your age? LOL

I am glad to hear that you had a good day.

Did you stuff your self?
